**SOLVED**
It was a loose ground.
Actually, the ground connection to the case, where I had to loosen a clamp to remove the flywheel cover. Cleaned and tightened, I have spark. The stator was bad - but the ground I left loose during the swap was my gremlin. Once I went back to the basics - it was obvious.
Lesson learned.

The answer might be in this board already, but there are 67 pages of 'no spark'. Hope someone can help me along.
I am having a no spark issue. Got a yardsale GY6 50cc recently (Qingqi Happy 50). The keys were lost, and some wires crossed to 'make it run'. I have corrected the cut wires and installed a new switch.
I've fired the parts cannon at it: OEM-style (not performance) CDI, plug and stator. Testing primary windings on coil showed some weird fluctuating numbers, so I replaced it also.
When I engage the starter button, I see spark - a single flash. When I let off the button, I get another flash. (Both are relatively weak). To rephrase, I will push the starter button, hold for 3-5 seconds, and release. Only when I depress or release the button does spark jump on the plug. I am not getting a 'running' spark; just the two flashes.
Ideas?
Also - the handlebar killswitch: the slider is missing, and I an not sure of which way is kill or which is run. But I get that above condition on both. I removed the kill wire by depinning it at the CDI with no change on my problem. My second question - the kill switch- does it complete a ground circuit, or does it break the circuit? In other words, is the 'bypass' to leave the wires disconnected, or should they be joined/twisted to bypass?
