i am working on a roketa MC-54 250cc scooter for a friend. It has been sitting in a barn since 2012. No keys to be found
Gas tank was trash along with a few other things. I replaced the ignition with new keys. treated the tank, cleaned lines, carb, all kinds of things. Finally got it ready for cranking. Hooked up the battery with the two red wires and only 1 black ground. The lights come on and will not shut off unless I unhook the red fused wire. BTW the fuse keeps blowing. I added a larger amp fuse and it will not pop. However the headlights and all function of the blinkers are still on. The shutoff with the ignition does not have ANY effect on the lights. I am stumped. I think it could be the CDI or rectifier.
It does crank and run great but i cannot let this go without getting it resolved. I have seen plenty of posts of lights not working and how to fix that but my problem seems to be the opposite.
Since i replaced the ignition, does the alarm system have any variant on the lights? I have even unplugged the alarm and it will do the same thing. I thought this may be the problem but is there a way to bypass the alarm system? I have seen where the alarm system will become locked in a mode but since there are no keys or alarm switch, what do i do other than unhook it?
I guess if all else fails i can add a master switch on the dash to turn on all of the functions but I really like my work to be clean and right.
I dont want to keep throwing part after part because this is for a widow whose husband had this thing. I am fixing it up for her to sell. This is a nice scooter otherwise.
also, typical barn find. gas tank corrosion, flat tires, front brake master cylinder, clutch, gas lines, carb clean, bearings, new fuel sending unit.
