Update: the engine has been rebuilt. Same issue. The carburetor has been replaced. Same issue. Now I am sending in the stator.

I am still under warranty so I only have to pay shipping. Now I just have to figure out how to get the engine out!

I ran the compression test and it only came up to 100. I was told to remove my engine and mail it back to the dealership. They are going to rebuild it and send it back to me.

In the event I do have to change my head gasket, does anyone have a step by step description or helpful video?

Ok. The dealer finally gave up and gave me the number for the suppliers tech support. He seems to think I overheated and damaged the head gasket. He told me to run a compression test through the spark plug port and if it didn't hit 120psi or greater, that was my problem. Auto stores that loan them out don't have the right size and the motorcycle shop around me wants to charge me by the hour for them to run the test. Now I am in search of a way to get a compression tester to use for 5 minutes without being charged.

It wasn't. The spark plug was in good condition and set between 0.6-0.7mm like it was supposed to.

I found the spark plug. I am setting the gap on it. The manufacturer said that may be my problem.

I am new to this. I can change spark plugs in lawn lowers and cars, but where is it on the moped and how do I verify it is working like it's supposed to?

Thanks. I will post if/when I get this thing running again.
ce: I checked the carb again and everything is fine, no tears or holes. I don't plan on going that fast again once I get this fixed, now that I know this is what happens. I checked the vac lines and everything looked ok. There were no cracks in the lines and the hoses are still clamped on. I haven't checked the spark plug yet, but the seller stated the put in a better spark plug as part of their assembly process before sending it to me.
I am about to throw my hands in the air and try and find a mechanic to work on it, but I really don't want to do that. Any help is much appreciated!

The description was great, thank you. I was able to adjust the valves (they needed it, they were closed much more than .004 and .005 when fully open). However, the issue persists. Still slow to accelerate and tops out around 35-40mph. Any ideas of what I should try next?

Now we are getting into new territory for me. I have a pretty good video on how to adjust them and I know I can do that, but I don't know the best way to get to the valves. Any tips?

I got ahold of a spanner wrench and was able to verify the rollers were moving freely. After inspecting them I reassembled and the issue persists. Is there an easy way to tell if my belt is stretched? I sent a video of me flexing the belt to the company that sold me the scooter and they said it was within spec. (however I don't trust their opinion) The last recommendation they gave me was that I need to change the oil and adjust the valves. Is it possible the valves could cause a problem like this, and after under 400 miles?

Thanks for the tips. Once I get ahold of a spanner wrench I will let you know what I find.

I own a Roketa that I just recently bought "new" that was manufactured in 2008. It is an MC-74-150. The 150cc engine had no issues accelerating up to or maintaining 60 mph until recently. I was at top speed when I went down a hill and the speed increased to almost 70mph. I came to a stop light at the bottom of the hill and when I accelerated away it was very slow. Also, it will only get up to 35-40 mph after a very long straight run. The tach reads between 3500-4000rpm and the engine does not rev up as I accelerate. It has no problem starting and the engine sounds normal. When I raise it on the center stand the engine will reach 6000rpm since there is no load on the drive wheel. It just won't accelerate like it once did and the top speed has been greatly reduced. The seller has told me to clean the carburetor and replace the CDI box, both of which have been done and the same issue persists. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
