I have the Trail Tech regulator, and was able to modify my GY6 stator as described above. However, I am wondering how you were able to free everything from frame ground? Like the starter? It is grounded, and the battery also needs to be grounded for the starter to work? Even if you unground all the lights, and then connect them to the negative side of the regulator output, then connnect all those connections to the negative of the battery, which is grounded by the starter, then the regulator will become grounded as well?
How did you over come this problem?

Hello All, I have a 50cc peace sports scooter. The battery will not charge. I have replaced the stator, and then the regulator, then the regulator again, and then I replaced the stator, regular & flywheel all at the same time, then I replaced the regular three more times. I have 5 rectifier regulators here, and two stators, and I cannot get the scooter to charge the battery.
The Stator has 3 wires white/green/yellow. The green wire goes to frame ground. Between frame ground and the white wire, I can get up to 65VAC while the stator is disconnected from the rest of the circuit. Also from frame ground to the yellow wire I can get up to 75VAC while the stator is disconnected from the rest of the circuit.
When the stator is plugged in, and the RR is unplugged, it blows out the headlight. This is expected as the yellow wire is not clamped down to a safe 13VAC while the RR is unplugged. If you plug in the RR, the yellow wire will clamp down the AC to a safe level, and spare the headlight lamp from further abuse.
When the RR is plugged in, the white wire to ground now shows about 16VAC. After it goes through the half wave rectifier, it comes out on the red wire and just about half voltage, 7-8VDC. This is not enough to charge a 12VDC battery.
I was certain I was getting a 6VDC RR, since the 7-8VDC output would be right on par with a 6VDC battery. I have now purchased these regulators from 3 separate sources, hoping to find one that was 12VDC.
SO far, every RR I have received has worked the same way, and resulted in much the same voltage levels. I find it hard to believe that all 5 are bad, in the same way? Just not likely.
Next I have swapped the yellow and white wires, on the RR. This resulted in a dim headlight, as it was now only getting the 7-8VDC instead of the correct 13VAC it likes. So I figured the yellow and white wires were correct in the first place, and put them back like they were. That of course brings me back to a working headlight, and no charging voltage.
I am pretty much lost as to what else it could be; the circuit seems pretty straight forward. The yellow wire runs the headlight, and is AC, clamped to 13VAC, and the white wire runs the half wave rectifier, and is supposed to charge the battery.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?
