Hi, I have a 1983 Honda CM250 custom that the kick stand was very tight and hard to put up and down on. I sprayed some spray lube on it and now it works a lot easyer! problem is that now the bike leans too much and will fall over with the slightest touch or even a little wind ! It also seems that the center stand is leaning as well! My question is is there any way to adjust the kick Stan's or can this be a bigger problem? The bike is in excellent condition and I would hate to have it damaged from falling over!

Is the sidestand really loose on the pivot? If not it sounds like the stand is bent. This is why the gods gave us bench vices and pipe benders to re-straighten things.

i would check the frame and the mount if the centerstand is tilting also you may have a cracked frame on your hands

Yeah Pedro, that's what I was about to say. So mrjimi, is the bike tracking funny or pulling to one side? Like Pete said, for them both to do that is very suspicious. Rich

Ok upon closer inspection I seems that both the center stand and the side stand are bent! I park this bike outside of the local Walmart (my part time job) and the only thing I can think is that someone has been messing with it (not the first time). this bike is 30 years old and in excellent condition and just about every time I come out of work something has been played with ie switches, mirrors, gears ect.! I think it would take quit a bit of weight to bend both stands but I am the only one that rides my bike and I know nothing happened when I was with it! A bike this old is hard to find parts for and not cheap I would like to find one NOS but I don't think that will happen so if anyone knows of anything please let me know! You can email me @ itsallbs2me@comcast.net Thanks to everyone for your help and input........

i'm not sure of the years they switched but i know on my first bike (a cb350 honda),,,the pegs side and center stand were all one unit that bolted to the frame with 4 bolts and the tabs would crack off and display this symptom also

a quick blast of google images and saw many closeups of the stand arrangement the sidestand is actually mounted on the side of the left centerstand tab so this is either bent badly or is cracked ,,,i wound be under that thing with a very bright flashlite to inspect,,,like right now

My center stand got bent out of shape and I had the same problem. I removed it and had a welder straighten it, weld on some reinforce bracing and slapped new paint on it. A very cheap and easy fix.

Thanks everyone for your input. I was looking for a NOS kickstand and side stand but it does not look like that's going to happen! So I guess I will just look for something used on eBay..... :-(

Why not fix it? xring has the solution. find one on ebay that "might fit" and by the time you get it your bike could be damaged by falling over or worse yet a crack opened up while your riding it.
