Is it normal for a new CVT belt to sound different than a worn out belt? I installed a new belt and now my scooter sounds louder during acceleration.

Yeah I can see it,,it's tighter riding in different positions ,but make sure you have it together correctly

In my years of experience, no. Increased cvt noise = problems. Or potential problems. A good working and or tuned cvt. Will work smooth and quiet. And accel smooth. Weights and clutches ware out. especially the cheap ones.
