I decided that to get the speed I needed it would cost a lot so I bought a burgman 650. Btw I have a mix of rollers 3 - 13. 3 -16 holds it at 7200. Rpm checked again does not lose any on hills just speed. Gave trike to wife. 125 lbs should do nicely with upgrade jets and ignition and coil.

I have the 157QMJ engine also this is a short case 8 bolts holding cvt cover. Thanks for all the info guys. I will post on my upgrade. on a moderate incline i lose a lot of rpms quickly I will probably start mods in next few weeks. Christmas coming and cold up here. my butt does not have a warmer for riding.... time now to play with engine.

Just wondered if the 200 cc engine that is advertised on scrappy dog scooters would be a good trade up for my ice bear 150 trike and would it give much in the way of power increase? Thanks

BTW Something I think is important is the tightening of the castle nuts holding the hubs on. The shoulder of the hub when tightened pushes directly on the inside race of the bearing. The tighter the nut the more lateral pressure on the race forcing it toward the differential. It should be tight but it can cause premature bearing failure if too tight. I tightened it snug no play and fairly tight but did not crank down on it. Put in cotter key and secured.

Well.. ordered parts 2 hubs, nuts and washers just to make sure everything is perfect. I called Jim at Rapid Repair parts and sure enough he earned the name RAPID honestly. He checked on parts availability then took the order and a couple of days later I received what I needed and made the repairs. I want to make it clear Jim had no reason to speed the order thru. He is in WI and I'm in GA. I did not purchase my trike from Jim or have had any previous dealings. Good service and priceless conversation is what he is about. Trust him he's there to help.

Believe me I don't want that to happen again. Don't know why the previous owner didn't put in the cotter pins..... I'm using the washer and pin. Ally you're right about hub grabbing more of spline. Will make sure everything is tight. I hate to tighten to tight since it is pressing against bearing and could put premature wear on the race.

got hub and dust cover off.. found 3/8" spacer between bearing and hub. If I remove there is plenty of room for washer and nut. with the spacer in hub did not fully go all the way on spline.

Hi and Thanks Ally Again... Was in traffic at 40 when nut came off. The only thing that saved me was the fender held the wheel on the axle. It stripped the splines as I said. Checked other side after I got load out of pants. No cotter pin there either. Guy was an idiot. I bought this as a demo unit not a killer unit. Shows everyone no matter how new it is check it out closely. Is that a washer behind the castle nut. Does not have them either...oh well learned a valuable lesson.

I have a axle problem. The left side wheel and hub came off axle. I'm fine but the axle ground on the splines of the hub and ruined both the axle and the hub. I need to replace both. Does anyone know the sizes and how to remove axle. Ally I saw your post on the from 50 to 150 but I can't figure where the clips are. What is the dust cover. I remove the hub nut and the hub but don't know from that point how to remove axle. I'm sure Rapid can get the parts but I need to remove. 150cc. Thanks Ally and others for help Tom I bought the trike and the fellow that owned it before didn't use cotter keys. Geez a real killer at 40 mph

I saw the answer on front sprocket forum. I have the 24 tooth. I tried to look up the ice bear parts site in internet but couldn' find anything.

Hello Again Ally, To bring you up to date I'm now using 16 gr rollers. It still tops out about 55 at 8000. Would I get an improvement if I changed the gear on the engine case to a higher ratio. If so who do I get the parts from. Its the same model as yours Ice Bear. This trike seems to have a lot of unharnessed power. Thanks
