new billet mirrors,,gets rid of the hideous canoe paddle originals that only let me see how nice my jacket looks on my shoulders, gives a nice underarm shot of the road to the side and behind the scoot as the mirrors are convex ,,,and cleans up the look so it gives it the ol timey visual i'm going for,,,,

Thanks Rich,,,yes oberon stuff is very expensive and rizoma is very dear as well if you buy retail,,i go ebay and bid what i want to pay and if i get it i score ,,,if i dont i go to the next one and bid again ,,,and i try and have some in stock at the house,,,i have 3 pair of mirrors and 4 sets of led indicators and 3 digital flasher relays waiting for the next victim,,,right now amassing parts for the bmw r1150r,,,ztecnic Ti exhaust,, digitec computer,,super pack of Ti hardware for a complete bolt change ,, ohlins shocks front and back,,,also waiting for the damned jet needle for the mikuni,,i hope it comes before my head pops like a zit,,,i really have to get a good lathe i could have spun one out of titanium long ago ,,the mikuni catalog has drawings with all the numbers and angles lengths the whole magilla,,,, i also have a different carb being built for me by jesse at keintec engineering if i can't sort out the stumble in the vespa,,,it's a more modern design a 25mm smoothbore flatslide ,,,it flows more than a 30mm cv carb,,,with the advantage of higher intake velocities so it meters fuel better at partial throttle,,,,as usual i've created my own living hell again,,

If and when that damned needle gets here,,i'll give the vm28 a try for a week then i'll switch to the tm25 that jesse is setting up for me for a back to back comparison ,,,i see slight wheelies with the tm set up,,,and i'm also making a jig to hold the exhaust so my friend can watercut the end of the silencer off so i can do a few mods to the inside and reweld it so it looks stock,,,,,with the other ignish mods coming i anticipate shaving 2-3 seconds off quarter mile times easy,,,,and never did find out if the 2015 sprint wheels will fit,,,,,so if i get a big oldie wild hair again,,,ill have to design wheels and have another friend cut them,,,,,,gotta have those wheels,,,,,,,,

It's sitting on my doorstep as i type!!!! the needle has been delivered so a diffinative update to the sh!tty carburetion saga will be gven this evening,,,then with any kind of luck at all i'll have the mikuni tm in my hands today or tomorrow so i can do another review of it's performance back to back with the vm ,,,that poor rear tire,,it's gonna go bye bye very soon i have a feeling

well the needle installed,,still stumbled on the middle groove ,,,put it up to the top notch stumble almost gone,,,just ever so slight mild roll on hickup ,,, a marked improvement but still not perfect,,so i'll order the next needle leaner and i'll have the problem solved,,it's completely rideable so back into service it goes,,,,huge improvement in the top end , with a very pleasing rush to the rev limiter,,,no running out of breath with this carb on it,,,it does not have the instant punch off the line tho,,(no accelerator pump) that i'm used to,,,,ssssooooooo the custom TM thats coming is going to be the candidate,,,it's a more modern design anyways and flows even more mixture AND has an accelerator pump,,,,AAAAHHH a mothers work is never done,,,,scheesh

Well well well,,the damned thing runs fabulously cold and just totally dropped me on the way to work,,,when it gets hot it literally just shuts off like it's running out of fuel,,,was pushing it home when i gave it another try and it lit so i limped back to the pad and grabbed my trusty dr350 which lites good bad raining sunny earthquake hot cold flood and fire or any combination of all stated,,,so i know its still running rich but i think i may have a combination problem ,,,new fuel tap may be the culprit,,,they are an issue with these machines ,,,,not enough vacuum to keep it open and it'll starve out of fuel at full throttle (which it's at 99% of the time with me on this thing),,,,so i may gut it and then go to a manual one which i thought i would do in the first place,,,,,never a dull moment,,,this is what i get for not tearing it down to every nut and bolt like i always do ,,,then i reengineer it as i reassemble,,,oh well live and learn,,,this will never happen again

I hate vac petcocks. I was talking to a former Harley engineer and he told me they all hated them too. But it's a DOT mandate and is a safety feature. If the bike spills the engine shuts off from the tip switch and so the vac petcock shuts. But he said the bikes had trouble with them not opening all the way or the diaphragms getting brittle. If they have an electric fuel pump they didn't have to have one. Sounds like that things moves some petrol, I don't know if the B & S valve would work on that or not. They are nice though...bulletproof. Rich

I literally just put the new tap on the scoot Rich,,,it doesn't have 100 miles on it,,,so i doubt very highly that its bad,,,got a couple days off here this weekend so i'm going with a different clear fuel line so i can see that it's feeding ok,,,and a quick check just now on ebay tracking my second 5n13 needle is in my mailbox as of 15 minutes ago,,,so i can do the change tonite from the 4L6 and see what i get,,,,,,,,and i'll change the feeder line to clear and i think i'm going to pull the intake manifold and drill out the brass nipple a few thou as some insurance to make sure i have it opened enough,,,,,,but in hindsight i may have created the condition with the high flow carb itself because when you open up the throttle there's so much flow i think that vacuum is nonexistant,,,,it's too funny when i really whacked it open last nite i got the most satisfying intake roar ,,,i was laughing in my helmet saying to myself man this is gonna be fun fun fun,,,and the rush past the little stumble to rev limit was great,,,i thought i had it licked,,,,,,and also i had a problem with another bike earlier with fuel starvation as i was using more fuel than the original stock system could deliver,,,so that may be in play here as well,,,

You are spot on about the vacuum. A lot of 250's start breaking up at WOT because the vacuum goes to hell and the pump starts failing. There's even a syndrome with GY6s at ultra high rev and low vac where the slide quits working. I've never had it happen but I've read about it. I'm sorry to admit I forgot, and I'm too lazy to look, is that a CV or flat side?

The one that's on the bike now is a mikuni vm round slide series,,, the one that should be and will be on it is a mikuni tm flat slide,,, I'll keep this one as a new spare
