JR , thanks a million. I was afraid I'd purchased another lemon, but it was a loose connection in the fuse box that fixed my fan problem. I been riding the shiot out of it ever since. 250 miles as of today.

Haven't heard from you in a while mxmatt.... Hope all is well  Let us know how things are going??? Thanks! , I feel I own the board a huge apology or something. I created all this excitement and then when my scoot came I was so excited that I just kept working on it and forgot to take the tons of pics that I meant to. Needless to say, the minute I finished the PDI, changed all the fluids and started the break in process, I have been riding it like a mad man. It was 106° in Phoenix today and I put 50 miles on it. I am definitely impressed with the quality of my new scooter compared to my 150. The 250 is the way to go. I'm getting 60 MPG and I've had the speedo at 70 MPH with a little more to go. JR , might be interested to know that the temp guage climbs just past the 3/4 marker when I am on the highway for a while, but never gets to red line. I'm going to be looking for cooling modifications once I get this paid off. I am definitely happy I took the mods advice and went with the liquid cooled 250 over that air cooled 200 I was eying. Hope that brings you up to speed. Some day I may get around to completing this PDI thread as I promised. How's your scoot running. You were having issues right? |

Good job on burping it and finding the fuse box gremlin.

MX there are some simple mods that can help for practically no cost, if you want to open her up again. On the newer model is the radiator up in front of the gas tank and right behind the front wheel or is it behind the gas tank?

I dumped the Chinese oil after letting the motor idle for about 5 min to warm it up. Replace it with Dino 20w50 at 70 miles. It's at 250 miles tonight. When should I replace it again in your opinion? I was thinking at the 500 miles mark.
In response to your question, mine is up in front of the gas tank, fan behind radiator.

JR , couple issues, horn doesn't work and I'm getting a rattle/vibration from the cvt cover when I take off. Alleyoop mentioned another thread that this may be caused from the clutch pads glazing. What say you?

Got some old computers around that are no good? Know of a place that junks them out? All computers have two to three high speed low amp fans and they run off of 12Vdc, yep that's right 12Vdc. One can modify the radiator mount and put a couple of these little 3 to 4 inch fans on the "back" of the radiator "pulling" air through the radiator from to back and put them on a little switch to turn off if not needed in winter time. Fans like these:
These are easy to work with and you can even get a switch from the power supply to use:
Believe me they help especially in city light to light traffic.

I noticed that when I use my turn signals, they work and the light on my dash blinks as well, but there is not audible noise like on my other scooter. Is this normal? I sent in for a warrant claim on this and KM sent me a new flasher, but it also doesn't make noise.

The scooters in my fleet only flash the directionals. I have a very loud beeper on Rocket that I could totally live without. Not only is it an annoying tone but people stare at me since it sounds like a truck backup alarm. Many people disconnect it but I left it alone.

The fix is to replace it. Trust me, it wasn't very accurate to begin with. Mine gave me so much trouble and finally it just quit working.

Air Box Broken

Head Gasket
4650 miles - Apr 26, 2016
Notes: 11-1-14 during 30 mile round trip freeway ride in cool evening air, coolant reservoir spewed coolant and temp gauge redlined immediately. Limped last 5 miles home filling with ice water from convenience stores. Replaced coolant at home and this sequence repeated itself over and over. No amount of burping coolant would stop it from overheating. First few miles from cold engine seemed fine, but eventually coolant would expel from overflow tank. Since replacing head gasket and burping system it runs great and stays cool even in the dead of the AZ summer heat. Took me 15 months to actually accept that a five month old scoot could actually blow a head gasket. I tried literally everything the internet advisors put forth before changing it out. Purchased gasket on eBay for $8.
Muffler (Warranty)
4600 miles - Jan 30, 2016
Notes: Original sounded like a can of rocks when shaken. Stated rattling after a ride on a poorly maintained road and then a short distance on a dirt road with some washboard 2 months after purchase.
Thermostat
3369 miles - Nov 6, 2014
Notes: Original thermostat was not opening and causing overheating. Update: original thermostat was tested and working fine. Still over heating even with new thermostat. Ultimately it turned out to be the head gasket.
Replaced Broken Horn
