Someone my brother knows is selling a 2004 Honda elite 80 for $300 just to get rid of it. Has 13000 miles. Any thoughts on this? Needs a battery and it's been sitting for a year ( with gas still in it). I'm thinking just a good carb cleaning and battery. Just worried about the miles. Any thoughts???

They're kinda bulletproof. If you know the oil was changed and service performed then I would pay $300.00 for it. It's probably worth more than that, they're a classic. Did you look it up in Kelley Blue Book? I just did...retail is $1,070! trade in is $650.00! Run, don't walk, and go get that bike!!

Trade is $390.00, Retail is $715.00. Those figures are excellent condition and the trade in is actually closer to what it's really worth. Believe me, the guy has looked this up...he knows. Now it is pretty old compared to what we thought earlier. There could be weather damage, just from sitting, even inside. You could luck into a steal or you could have a real PITA on your hands. At this point....that old, he'd have to come down for me to buy it. It was tasty before....now not so much. Are you good with a wrench? If not, I'd pass. Rich

I with rich the Hondas are pretty built proof. For 300 dollars sounds like a great deal if you don't have a scooter. You could always try to talk him down but seems pretty reasonable for the price. I would take the chance and try the couple things you were talking about doing to it. But who knows you could put a baterie in it and it might fire right up. I wish I found as good of deals others have found here in the last month or two. My friend just purchased a 50 for 75 dollars and was sitting for years an started right up. I just found this out today I looked at the scooter with him it had severe weather damage but ended up firing up.
