I cut the wires leading into the plug for the cdi box on my harness and put shrink tube quick connectors on so I could unplug them and test them. I wire trucks all day so don't worry no problem with them they are color matched back to original wire and connecting right.

Just making sure people no matter how experienced they are or knowledgeable can easily plug the wrong wire into the wrong connector especially when you cannot see where the other wire that your plugging it into is going. Like I said I just fixed one guys problem, he was checking the voltage from the stator and Pickup coil and when he plugged the two stand alone wires back up he plugged the pickup coil to the ground wire connector and the ground wire to the pickup coil wire going to the CDI. Simply mistake but I asked for pictures of his wiring and spotted it. Alleyoop

I understand what you mean but no I have the right wires plugged in there because I broke one and had to put my own connector from work on the stator wire so I can't confuse them

Ok I think it is time to put up some pictures of your CDI and your connections. You may be missing something very simple. I do not believe that all those cdis are bad so something is not right.
Have you checked the BOOT CAP and make sure it is on the coil wire good and making good contact with the wires inside the coil. How about the plug is it gaped correctly. Alleyoop

WOW! where did you pick that sucker up, looks like it has been sitting out in the rain and left to just rust for years. But anyway that stator did you ever take it off it looks like it should be turned 180%, like this. Alleyoop

Like i said before i thought maye a switch was bad and putting the yellow wire power through the ground, maybe sounds stupid but maybe enough, like maybe power fedding back through the ground and shorting the cdi out. Not sure how you would be able to test that though cuz i have unplugged all the plugs in the front and it still had weak spark. Idk just keep thinking its something really stupid
