Where do these wires go? Is this a ground!? And where is it? Valve cover!?
Is this a CDI below a CDI, I don't quite get this:

Let me ASK is that a 5 wire CDI? or 6 wire CDI? Take a picture of the plug from the CDI. And the plug showing the wires plugged in. If its a 5 Wire I think you have them connected wrong. Alleyoop

Yes, I agree. It needs to be put back to stock and wired conventional, then we could sort through this. There's just too many variables here. One thing that disturbs me is the G hooked onto an apparent ground with a R, B, and what appears to be a battery cable. Rich

Yea I am also concerned about the grounds, the thing is rusty and if the frame was not cleaned down to bare metal bad grounds same as on the engine where apparently most of the grounds are bing connected. Normally ALL GROUNDS, battery and other GREEN GROUNDS go to the frame and ONLY ONE ground for the motor itself goes to the frame. Alleyoop

The red wire on the valve cover is a wire i used to extend a ground i probably shoulve went with white or black. Yes that is a new racing cdi i bought 6 wire but it only uses five like the stock one

Well usually the sixth wire on a CDI is an extra ground. In the four port you've got trigger and coil feed and then under them two ground wires. Does that sound right? Try grounding the second ground and see what it does.

I just still can't wrap my head around the fact that when the pick up coil is unplugged that the ignition wire still does the 30v-0v diminishing when it shouldn't even put out the 30v to begin with. The face that it does the same whether it's plugged in or not. Only difference is no spark when unplugged.

If the power wire from the stator is only putting out 30Vac I would say the stator. But I would first rotate the stator now that the wiring looks descent. Everyone I know say if you crank it and it registers less than 40Vac you will get a weak spark. Also I would ground the GREEN wire from the stator TO THE FRAME not the motor. If that is not making a good ground weak spark. All THE GROUNDS SHOULD BE GOING TO THE FRAME and just ONE GROUND WIRE FROM THE FRAME TO THE MOTOR. Hate to be a duck but you got the grounds ASK Backwards and make sure you clean the frame to bear metal for a good ground cause that thing is rust city, you should know this if you wire trucks, its 101 grounding. I know capacitors can spontaneously discharge if they build up too much of a charge or have imperfections on the conductor plates. Possibly the CDI is discharging without a trigger until the capacitors are empty, or it's a grounding issue causing the discharge. This is above my paygrade and possibly Jack, Dr. Rocco, or Rapid Jim could comment. But the rapidly diminishing voltage smacks of capacitor discharge. Rich

I skipped a bunch of pages so feel free to call me Captain Oblivious, but has anyone thought to check the plug gap?

IDK whose to say what CDI's are bad but who knows what ones are good they're on ebay from a range of 2 dollars to 20 or 50. Does the price matter that much this one was 12 dollars, which isn't a lot but if you gotta keep buying them to try to get a good one, just wish I knew someone around me with a scooter to test parts to know if they are good, or even a fourwheeler or something that takes the same cdi box idk most of the one's I see are wire cdi's on everything my friends own.
