So I bought a new clutch back at the beginning of April of this year. I was trying to trade out stock parts for better parts. I bought this clutch from gy6racingteam on ebay. I have only been driving the scooter to and from the gym in the morning less than a mile both ways. This morning on a short scoot and right in front of my house I get this crazy rattling noise coming from the cvt case. Since it is an open case i figured I may have gotten a pebble or something in there. Nope, clutch completely annihilated. Did I get a faulty clutch? Not much I can do about it now I'm sure. Anyone have any ideas?

Yep, cheap metal and with the stronger springs broke off the spring holders. All this stuff is made in china and they make a ton of money on this so called performance parts. You are better off using the OEM clutch and putting in your own springs. All dealers will not warranty performance parts wonder why. That is definitely caused by bad metal. Alleyoop

Thanks for the reply sir. I obviously need a new clutch. So you think I would be better off with a stock clutch and just trading out the stock springs with the yellow springs?

I think that is all you really want, if the pad material is still good just swap the springs if they are the same length as the yellow ones in the one that broke. Alleyoop

Wow that's a great picture I am surprised it shattered like that?

Same thing happened to me. They try to make the metal seem like an ultra light exotic metal but all they do is use cheap metal with a porous structure. It just turns out brittle and can't take vibration. I agree, just get the old grey colored iron tensioner aparatus, the heavier the better.

A good rule of thumb is that if you are looking for a performance part for a Chinese built scooter, look for something made in Taiwan as opposed to Made in China. It'll cost a bit more, but Taiwanese manufacturing standards are heavily influenced by Japan, and it really shows, particularly in scooters.

Still surprished that that clutch shattered like that. But this sight you get to see some interesting problems sometimes. This is one of them. Also makes it easy to know what the problem is.
