I would like to get "Honda" O.E.M. rear drum brake shoes that will fit my gy6-150 long (157qmj) and has 13" tires. Anyone know "what honda scooter(s) year / model / part number, etc ) would have the rear drum shoe match Reason- because there are more brake shoe options from other manufacturers concering brake materials / designs such as ceramic. Just dont know what year / model / part number, etc. to use for the search. Thanks up front for any help.

Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong (but I don't think I am here), while it is generally agreed that the GY6 is derivative of Honda engine architecture, there never was a direct cross from GY6 to any particular Honda scooter model, particularly when speaking about the US scooter market.
KYMCO/SYM/PGO are in essence the remains (yes, oversimplified) of Honda Taiwan, and many now believe that the GY6 is actually a branch of the Honda engine tree that started off as particular to that market. It was then contracted/copied by the Chinese and eventually became the ubiquitous engine that we all know and love today.
Long story short, it's probably going to be a whole lot easier if you source some high quality Taiwanese made shoes for your scooter.

HAHAHAHA, just get one of the pads off and match the design and size, you can get them in ceramic and granite and diamond, pads are cheap. The design and size all depends on what type of calipers they put on that scoot. There are many different type of calipers which take different size and design pads. Alleyoop

Actually Matt, that is the best explanation of the evolution of the GY6 I've heard...ever. It plugs in to many of the known truths about the GY6. For instance, Sprocket, who had investigated this very subject was adamant that there was no Honda engine that matched up to specs on the GY6, he would not say the GY6 was a Honda clone. Some were close but no cigar. So if you couldn't find an exact match to a Honda engine where was the cloning? Secondly, how did the Chinese get hold of it to start the cloning? Japan and China have been bitter enemies for a long, long time. I doubt they have been doing a great deal of trading. Now Taiwan and China have had close ties for a long time, Taiwan used to be part of China and China still insists that they ARE part of China. Although not on the best terms their cultures are similar and they have a vigorous trade relationship. It makes more sense that the Taiwan made engines made it over to China as they're only separated by a relatively narrow body of water. And then let the cloning begin!
