All I can say is my stock piped PX is plenty fast on those 10" wheels with its ancient geometry. I can't say I'd want to get much more out of it, although that may have more to do with the fact that I can easily out ride my brakes on that bike.
Faster than 50mph and I can honestly say that 12" and up wheels and 4t are the way to go just for the sake of stability and longevity. Well in my opinion anyway.
Now I don't want to sound like I'm coming down on the shifty bike, because I love my 4 speed PX. It's such a cool bike, and a wonderfully raw scootering experience. It is the bike that I recently took to Deal's Gap, and had a blast on it.

i want the 4 speed trans,,,and the stella has disk brakes in front,,thats a plus,,,but it's a 4 stroke so not as zippy as the 2 smoke engine,,,i'd personally wouldn't mind having a 2 stroke but i don't think they'll be legal too much longer in the republic of california,,,,,,a carb and pipe and bitubo suspension front and back and i think i'll have pretty close to the perfect canyon straffing bomber,,,, and as an upside i'm seeing reports of guys that are doing these mods are getting a true 120-125 mpg,,,versus the 100 actual out of the crate,,,(genuine says 140mpg) and all the road test reports i'm reading 95-100 is reality,,,still not too shabby,,,but other reports say not as quick as a 2 stroke,,,and they are with the mods,,,i'm not really trying to make the thing into a bonneville bike i just want something that's quick enough to get off the line nicely and do 60ish comfortably,,,and i also want something that has neutral,,,i hate working on the et and trying to do engine work and checks with the rear tire screaming crazy in the back while i'm dealing with the engine,,,i really don't like the auto arrangement,,,i've had several offers on the et so i'll take the next decent one,,,and another plus for this machine is i can goof around with the transmission also as gear clusters are cheap and come in a bewildering assortment of ratios,,,so the plan is a little taller 1st gear and close ratio 2nd and 3-4 being wider ratioed for more comfortable cruising,,,,just some thoughts on my plan

Oh man, you are right... I keep on forgetting that the Stella is now a 4t. I haven't ridden a Stella 4t yet, but I bet that engine gets the job done and you are probably right that it might need just a bit of a boost. LML does a pretty good job with that bike.
Bitubo is a whole lot of money for the suspension on that bike though, unless you are going to be riding the bike really really hard, you can get away for less. I have a set of the Prima shocks on mine, and they actually work great and for a fraction of the cost. I know SIP has a set for that bike that costs quite a bit less than the Bitubo setup that also works really well.
I hear you, having a 4 speed bike is just great. I'll be honest though, I like my auto too. I guess they both have their place. I'm sure you probably won't have much problem selling the ET.
A word of caution though... I'm sure you can get the engine to hold 60mph no problem with a few mods, but on those bikes, there is no such thing as "comfortable at 60". The small wheels coupled with the bike's old geometry and very short wheelbase makes for a very nervous (darty and unstable) ride north of 50mph. It's just they way they are, crazy fun but something to consider nonetheless. I did find that the SIP tubeless aluminum rims made a substantial difference in ride quality over the split rims, although that could also be attributed to the quality rubber I have installed now as well. I'm not a big fan of tubes (for safety reasons) so that was my first upgrade.

Matt, is that a hoot on the Tail or what!? I rode my naked Pegasus and the wife was on a Bashan 150! The Peg loved it and the Bashan did OK. Everybody there was so nice and polite. These biker dudes would come over and inspect the scooters shaking their heads approvingly and then we'd go look at their bikes. As long as you were on two wheels you were good. The crotch rockets got along with the hogs and ad infinitum. Nobody endangered you if they passed and everybody respected everybody else. I'll never forget it and want to go back someday. Rich

Rich, We had a blast! On the way down we were only passed by one sportbike and it took him a couple of miles to really put some distance on us. My Vespa was pretty fast in those tight curves, and unfortunately you can't get much of a feel for how much lean we had in some of those corners because the camera is helmet mounted, but I did "leave some metal on the mountain". My purchasing manager Tom was on his built up 103cc Minarelli, and I think I was holding him up a little bit.
We try to visit Deal's Gap at least once a year, and everyone there is always very, very cool. It truly is someplace where we are all there for the same thing so it doesn't matter what you ride, so long as you are riding. You do have to be careful there, and I don't recommend it to anyone who isn't a strong rider... It's a whole lot of corners each way, but it is easily one of my favorite places.

B"H Another Stella scoot in the forum ! I have had a chance to take a look at the new Stella automatic 125 at Boise's only scooter shop . The only problem I see with the Automatic Stella's is there is no real spare tire. It may look the same on the outside as my 2T but its a totally different bird underneath ! No shifting . The Auto Stella is set up control wise like a Chinese scoot with no shifting . A person who likes the Vespa look but wants to stay with a chinese scoot type controls would be easily intergrated . Please keep me posted on how the 4T Stella works out. Having had both Chinese and Stella-Vespa . I like the classier Vespa look better. Better quality parts as well with the 2 cycle Vespa- Stella series . willc.

Make sure you have a good shop mount them though, you want one with a machine that can do 10" rims, spoons are not so good for these bad boys... Don't ask me how I know. These are the tires that I run: www.partsforscooters.com/154-84_Kenda_TireFor the dollar these are some of the best feeling and wonderfully sticky scooter tires I've ever found. They are Kenda's newest sport compound and are quickly becoming one of our best sellers. Matt
