rks, I did do some of the fuel and vac lines, basically anything that looked bad got replaced. Yours looks pretty much identical in the motor department, is your fuel filter hidden under the frame in the pic? Yes, it's out of view, between tank and fuel pump....know i'll be told it belongs between pump and carb...but things are working fine as they are. Think I'd change any lines you haven't already done, don't use ethanol laced gas..it destroys the fuel systems of all small carb engines... And as Bashan said...adjust your valves

I will look into the protocol for adjusting the valves. Going to order that gasket and hose/adjust the valves then see ya moto bravo lol. I'm going to be starting another job soon (local) and if I can't depend on the thing it's gotta go unfortunately.

yes also gonna check all remaining vac lines. The strange thing though is I have to ride it a certain amount of time before it will act up so a messed up line I would think would always cause a problem. Also yes my tank is down by the floor board. One good thing the job I may get the scoot will run fine long enough to get there

So who wants to go smack this guy about his valves? Cyborg? Gman? Plant? Oh I know...JCT...ow...that would hurt! Listen man, there's a high probability it's your valves. Quit screwing around, go to the Library, and adjust your valves..it needs to be done! Rich

Bashan, see my response 2 above. That is part of the plan as well however waiting on some parts...Not touching the thing again until I have what is needed.

Well valves are adjusted. Took out the original china plug and one electrode tip was buggered up melted?! Anyway it runs again however the weird thing is now when I start it it has kind of a miss to it unless I pull in the rear brake lever then the idle smooths out..It now also idles high so going to adjust that tomorrow. Not sure what to think at this point.

When you pull in your brake lever you're actually providing a ground for the system. Take a look at the diagram:
So check your engine ground and all the grounds on the central ground point on the frame on the right of the frame just in front of the engine. Use your multi to check the grounds to frame for continuity. If you don't know how to do that just ask. Don't get down about this, it takes a while to work through these things. Believe me, I've been through it. Rich

CC, (ChinaCrapper) You bought a Chinese bike. You have to realize this is NOT a Jap bike, or Taiwanese or American. It's Chinese. They build them like this for a reason. You get to customize it to suit YOUR riding habits. Once you get it running smoothly, you're going to be on top of the world because not only do you have a ride, but you've also got the knowledge to fix and save even more money. Oh, and next time someone tells you to adjust the valves, just do it already.

It is valuable knowledge to learn how to work on the scoot and I do realize it's a china scoot hence my screen name so I knew what is was getting into for $400 bucks will see how it goes today after checking the grounds. Thanks for the tips all and yes if I buy another one some day first thing I will do is adjust the valves!

OK so took a spin and the scoot did not die out however now I got back and there was oil dripping out of a tube that comes out of the airbox! It also now starts slow meaning it turns over slow until it starts, before it was real quick turning over. Battery is fully charged and fine. I'm getting rid of the egr crap too but this oil leaking thing is concerning. One thing after the next after the next. Those of you who bought a new chinese scooter did it have problems right away? this thing has been messed with before I got it so that's never a good thing..

I got mine with 600 miles on it and have had nothing but problems with it. But, I have managed to put almost 5000 miles on it in the meantime.

Is the oil level too high? Which tube is it? Can you get us a pic? Take the airbox cover off and get us a pic of that too.
Those of you who bought a new chinese scooter did it have problems right away? YES! Of course! What did you pay for it? Shaddup!

Bought my Chinese Scoot new....only problems I've had are...a nail puncture in rear tire at 3000 miles.....and a failing battery after 2 years and 3 months. I have made several modifications, and improvements to it....cuz I wanted to....not because of failures or breakdowns
BUT....I did a complete PDI before I ever attempted to start my scooter. (PDI instructions are available in the Library Section of this forum)
You will find that those who do a PDI, are far happier with their scooters.....and it's Just as important to do one when buying used.....Bob

rks, thanks that was the kind of answer I was wondering about. I take care of my stuff and am a bit anal but when other people have owned or messed with something it makes it a battle. Bashan I had to walk away from it yesterday so will get a pic today the oil was not overfull. I even went underneath and the kick stand bolt was barely in just waiting to fall out! And the center stand is missing probably the bolt vibrated and it fell off lol (it was never there when I got it)

Before you panic there's a tube that comes out of the airbox that is supposed to have a plug on it. Condensation and oil combine to make a slime. Periodically you're supposed to take out the plug and drain the crud out. Given that yours is used and you don't know for sure it might have been removed. As a side note my Fashion drools some oil out of the airbox after a run on the interstate. My theory is that the breather system overloads and dribbles a little oil. I grew up around 1960s British motorcycles. The common wisdom was, "It's good when it leaks oil. Then you know that it has oil in it."
