So my brother bought this and had to replace gas tank, I went to put it on today and there is a hose coming from top of tank. The only explanation I can find is that the gas tank he got was from a California model. So my question is since there is no place to connect the hose can he still use the tank?

I don't have a Honda, but my fuel tank has two lines or hoses coming out of the top of it. One is the feed to the fuel pump, and the other is a vent line. The gas cap is not vented, so the only way to get air into the tank to replace the gas being drawn out, is through this line. So if it is a vent, just place a cheap gas filter on the end, (just to keep crap out) and zip tie it somewhere high on the frame....Bob

OK so after about a month of switching parts and fixing things finally got my brothers ch80 running!! One issue is we adjusted the valves 3 times and they knock soooo loud when driving!! Runs and rides fine. Any ideas? ?

No, that is too noisy. What did you set them at? The cold clearance on that engine is .05mm or .002".

Yes definitely cold and I'm 99% sure it was top dead center. The flywheel is very rusted can't see any markings. I had what I think is the timing marks lined up though

if your not sure due to the rusty flywheel, take the plug out and stick a straw down there and rotate the motor with your hand turning the flywheel CLOCKWISE and watch the straw it will go up and down. So turn it so the straw comes out the furthest that will mean the piston is all the way to the top. Now you should be able to grab the rockers and wiggle them with your fingers(BOTH OF THEM. Or if you cam SPROCKET looks like this line it up like in this picture and forget about the timing marks on the flywheel. Alleyoop

Here's some alternative valve setting methods that Alley hates. Rich
