Rev limiter? Haven't heard that one before. Where do I look on my CVT? I have the same problem that when I hit max speed on WOT it begins to sputter and miss. Only when it's hot and WOT. Where do I find this piece of junk limiter wires? Got pix?
When I back off the throttle a bit, it settles down and runs fine.

If you see WIRES going into the CVT then its probably a rev limiter near the crank. Or the CDI could be rev-limited as well, some you can tell if you see a WIRE LOOPING back into the CDI. If nothing like that then how you describe that " I BACK OFF THE THROTTLE A BIT AND IT SETTLES DOWN" it is running RICH. Did you put in a different MAIN JET? If so what size and what kind of scooter do you have a 50cc STOCK or did you modify anything on it? Alleyoop

I haven't modified anything on the engine. It's stock as far as I know. 244cc.

OH, a 244cc Helix Clone, there are no rev limiters on 150+ cc scoots. Only the 50ccs some come with rev limiters CDIs to keep them in the 30mph range per State DMV laws so they won't require license and insurance and registration.
So your problem it is running to rich if it acts as you your describe it. It bogs at Wide Open Throttle and if you back off a little on the throttle it does not bog and just runs fine. Turn the Fuel Ratio Mixture Clockwise 1/4 turn at a time and test it out. Alleyoop

I'll have to figure out how to get to that without taking the whole flipping thing apart.
Before I go adjusting things, let me fully describe it.
I'm ripping down the road at WOT and it's running fine till it heats up. Then it begins sputtering and acting like the key is off then on real quick. Then I let off the throttle a bit and it will sometimes settle. Usually I have to let WAY off until it settles and then add T to bring it back up to speed. When I let way off, it backfires a few times before it settles.

That is different the OPPOSITE LEAN not enough fuel(BUT IT COULD BE CAUSE BY AIR LEAKS) So check for air leaks by the Carb, Air Filter Tubing etc. Backfiring is ALWAYS a LEAN CONDITION, Check your exhaust where it mounts to your motor backfiring when letting off the throttle a lot usually it is leaking where it bolts onto the motor. I have a long flat blade screw driver. I drill a small hole just big enough for the screwdriver in the left body panel right in line with the A/F screw. Then I can slide the screwdriver in and adjust the A/F without trashing my hand or dropping a bunch of tools. The hole is so small nobody notices. It has saved a lot of grief. Rich

He has 244cc Helix Vertical motor which means his Fuel Ratio Screw is most likely UNDERNEATH the carbs INTAKE SIDE of the carb. His carb probably does not have the fuel ratio screw on the left side open for easy access. Alleyoop

I had some of that stuff on a 150 right after I got it. It turned out to be the fuel pump wasn't pumping enough gas. At WOT it was running out of gas.

Well I'll be dammed. I blew it up. LOL I was cruising home and I had planned to make a stop at a lookout point. I was doing about 60 and suddenly Nothing. It just died. Quick as a wink I tried to fire it up again as I was coasting for the exit ramp. Nothing. It cranks but refuses to start. I don't smell gas and it acts like its not getting any gas. Or it could be no spark.
At this point, It doesn't matter. I think I might just gut the thing and convert it to electric. I LOVE this bike, I hate this engine.

Sorry to hear that happendeed not really sure how you would make it electric. Sounds like your due for a compression test on engine to determine if it is smoked. At least you got to enjoy it for a while if nothing else sorry your having tough problems.

Jvino.. I haven't looked at it since that day. I was just too pissed off to go back and work more on it. I DO plan on fixing it soon though. I need my wheels back.

Ok Ok... Quit pushin... I'll go look at it. Just because I didn't have tools with me that day I bet it's something REALLY simple... CDI came unplugged or something... Frickin raska musket robbor robor... (Mutley to duck Dastardly on any one of many mishap adventures)
