Hi, I have a 50cc Peace Sport like this www.elitescooterstore.com/uploads/2/2/3/7/22370900/4498315_orig.jpgThe scooter hardly to start up and wont idle. I already tried to valve adjustment, set 0.003 for intake and 0.004 for exhaust. Tried idle crew adjust but not help . If the engine start up, it only idles for few minutes then shut off. After that, it just bog off and really hard to start. I check the fire, spark plug. They are all OK Any idea? Thanks

Yea, you need to feed it more fuel with the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE screw on the carb. It the screw is plugged you need to drill the plug out or buy an aftermarket carb. Alleyoop Here is how to adjust the carbs mixture: scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/1499/4ts-carb-tuning

That valve gap is a little loose for a 50cc, I'd try .002" on both. Rich

Bashan is right-on! I've toyed with different valve settings and ALWAYS come back to 0.002" on intake and 0.003" on exhaust (or 0.002" on both works too).

Thanks Sounds like you are dealing with a lack of fuel getting to or into the carb. if the scooter has been sitting for a bit, you will most likely need to look a couple areas. the fuel shutoff valve, which is vacuum controlled and mounted to the bottom side of the tank may have had one of a few things happen: 1. the filter that is part of the valve could be clogged 2. the valve diaphram failed 3. the vacuum line from the engine has broken or fallen off other areas of concern; the inline fuel filter may be clogged the carb may be stopped up with aluminium corrosion. the carb needle valve may be hanging from the same corrosion start with the simple things first. if the carb needs to be cleaned, follow the method of disassembly in several videos available, but soak it for a couple days fully submerged in a can (i use empty coffee) half full of fuel and sealed with a lid. if you cleaned the carb, remember to add some top engine oil into the fuel which will help coat the carb internal parts as well as help the engiine - Lucas makes a decent product

I just went through this with my TaoTao. After doing everything to the valves, fuel/vacuum lines, and carb; it ended up being bad gas (fresh from the station). Drain your tank completely and get new gas before you beat your head too much... scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/10414/50cc-idles-rev
