You can get alerts for 1 zip code and surrounding area free or buy a plan that gets you a bunch of zip codes. You get notification of traffic checks, accidents, road work delays, even trees down across roads. Reports are sent in by other people and then "relaid" to other users in the area.
My sister passed the sight on to me, helps bunches with avoiding roads blocked due to accidents and downed trees. I don't care about the DUI checkpoints cause I stay at home when I want a drink.
