I have a manual valve on my trike. Apparently last time I parked it I forgot to close the valve. I had some errands to run this morning and decided to take my mojo. I did my usual pre-ride check of the tires, lights, ect,. I didn't pay much attention to the gas gauge since I filled up last time I rode it and it should have had a full tank. Well I hops on and proceed to cruse down the block. I got almost to the stop sign and it started sputtering on died. So I'm thinking to myself I forgot to open the gas valve. I have done this before and this is about as far as i can get with the fuel in the hoses. So I reach down to open the valve and discover it is already open. Then I checked the gauge and it is on empty. Now since I was only about a block away from home I decided to push this three wheel beast back. It seemed better than walking home and getting my small gas container and walking back to fill it up. now let me tell ya it really sucks pushing a three wheel scooter for even a block. I need to find out where it is leaking.(it has not leaked before) and I also want to figure out some way to remind myself to close the valve.

AMAZING THOSE PETCOCKS, they have brains, they shut fuel flow when not in use and flow fuel when needed JUST AMAZING Ya they are Smart Alley, but they ain't amazing enough to work with e.f.i. electric fuel pumps. If they did I would not have had to put a manual valve on it. Roy

WOW!! An electric fuel pump that keeps on ticking with no electricity another amazing discovery I didn't say the fuel pump ran with no electricity. The fuel pump turns on when I turn the key on. And yes it is getting power or the engine would not have even started. Roy

Well Roy, I'm not going to tell a guy of your expertise anything about gas delivery. I'm good at one kind of that, or so the wife says. Now the float valve is supposed to stop the gas when the bowl is full and keep from emptying the tank if the manual valve is open and prevent a big boom from a spill, along with regulating fuel flow. But I'm assuming your EFI is like my SYM....no bowl. So where would the gas end up along the fuel line? You would know better than I. Does it stop at the fuel pump? I think that is the case because on the SYM the pump acts like the fuel valve, when the pump starts the gas starts to flow and prior to that it is shut off. So might there be a defect in your pump? Where would the gas go....down into the head? It seems to me it would smell or have spilled into the garage. I really don't know, I guess I'm just floating balloons. Rich

when i change a carb my garage smells to the high heavens for 2 days and thats just a bowl full and a couple rags,,,that fuel is going somewhere,,,and if it was inside it would be reeking,,,unless someone's fuking with you and syphoning it and taking it,,,,HEY it could happen,,,theres no way a tank of gas comes out and you don't have a very explosive condition in the garage,,,,thats alot of fuel,,even if it's outside you'd smell it strong

I had some brats doing that very thing to me. I didn't lock my shed in Lincoln because it was just a bunch of mower stuff but the mower kept running out of gas and my five gallon can was low all of the time. So I put a bunch of sugar water/kerosene/gas in the gas can and left the mower empty. Sure enough, the can went down by about 4 gallons. Soon, the neighbor's JD kid quit blasting up and down our street in his POS Chevy, and a dead squirrel showed up in my mail box. I took the squirrel over to his old man and told him the whole story, the kid was watching with bug eyes through the curtains out the sliding glass door. I didn't know if his old man would be pissed at me or not but he said "I'll take care of it" and he went inside. He took the squirrel inside, I don't know what happened to it. The kid just disappeared...I mean gone from the neighborhood. I heard he ended up in like military school but I don't know for sure. But anyway Roy, yeah, that's possible, it had to go somewhere! Ok guys, I think I got this one figured out. I keep my trikes in my garage and the gas cap is a locking type so I'm sure it ain't the neighborhood hoodlums. Only way into the garage is through the inside door. My boy was over last weekend working on his weed eater. I didn't have any two stroke gas in my one gallon can and now it is about half full and the five gallon can is empty also. My siphon bulb was laying out on a shelf and not where usually keep it. Man that boy keeps me guessing what he's gonna do next. Roy
