Also, I wouldn't mind a Ninja 250 at all IF it wasn't carbureted. I don't know if I trust anything going 90MPH to have a carb. Too many bad clogs and things like that..the 300 has DFI (digital fuel injection)

Carbs are just as reliable as EFI, maybe more so. If something happens and you lose electrical power, a carb will keep going but EFI or DFI will not.

There were alot of big Japanese bikes that howled at ungodly speeds on carburetors. The secret to carburetors is to leave them alone. My KZ1000 went over 100,000 miles with no carburetor help from me.

I believe you could ride a ninja face. You could certainly learn how to use a clutch. Time and paceints mabey use a parking lot and have you father or someone that knows already how to use a clutch get it there for you. I believe you can learn seem like a smart kid. Use your wits and don't go out there with the hot doging mentality of hot roding it. That's how you could get yourself in trouble.
Kz is right that a rebel to would be a good fit. You can always sell once you get the hang of it for something bigger if you need more power. But honestly eather one of the bikes would be plenty of power to get you from a to b. I think you would be most happy with a dual sport motorcycle that's just my opionion. They make them in all difrent sizes and you could defentaly round one up. I would think the ones road on the road would be a better fit since dirt can beat one up and dare delvels can get them to just beat them in the mud. Nothing wrong with that other than they can wear out the parts faster. Good luck I believe you could use an upgrade good luck and keep us posted.

My bandit was a lot faster than one with efi, 140mph at tach red line. I had jets and a yoshi pipe. As been said efi is dependant on a good electrical system. Wheelys in 4 out of 5 gears! 1st was hard to get it up because the back tire wanted to just smoke.

Ninja is not a good first bike...forget it. Shifts quick in the first three then stretches ratios like crazy, even the 300 classes. Rake is tight and tippy, riding position gets brutal real quick. Seat is a stick in the butt. That thing would rev quicker than flex Lydia. The Rebel is the perfect choice, sedate, friendly, easy to shift, and loves plant life. Skip the Ninja, it's dangerous for you fern face.

Here's the thing about the Rebel. Honda stopped selling it in 2010 in favor of the CBR 250, a very nice sport bike but not a good all around ride. The dealers yelled, the buyers yelled and in 2011 the Rebel was back. It still sells well, is way more comfortable than the "Ninja" bikes and does everything, including the interstate. Plus it gets 70 mpg, all day, every day. Unlike every Honda known to man it has one carburetor, is built like a brick and just plain works. If I had to take a long ride I'd be real torn over whether to use the Rebel or the Fashion.

Yeah after thinking about it and some others opinion the rebel is probley a better choice the ninja is a sports bike higher rev bike. I would hate to hear about you getting hurt some how. There are a ton of both bikes for sale but the rebel would be a more calm bike for the buck.
I think you would like any bike you get but sticking with the 250 might be a good choice for you plus Honda is built proof bike Change the oil make sure your tires and brakes are good wouldn't think many problems would happen to it. Plus they can rack up the miles.
Good luck face fern.

I still say ride your scooter till you are ready to buy, then sort them out. Bikes and availability changes and so does your $dollars to buy. You are wasting your time looking now!
