Noticed how clean everything is--between the mud holes and the blowing sand cant keep it clean (my shop either) he must have a great cleaning service--lol

I didn't try the valves... But, I did just go get a new carb and it didn't fix the problem. It starts and idles fine, accelerates fine up to about 20 mph, then won't go any faster. Is it the transmission possibly? I accelerated slowly and steadily on the stand and didn't notice it bogging down the same way. I'm going to try to check the cvt.

i need a new cvt gasket at least. the old was dry rotted and fell apart. the belt looks pretty good, no cracks anyway. i will buy a new one along w/ the gasket. the variator fan isn't cracked or anything, but it plastic. clutch looks good as far as i can tell at this point, i haven't got an impact wrench at the moment. what else is recommended to replace while i'm in there. are the different weights, springs, etc. worth it? while i'm at it, what about a no rev limit cdi?

The CVT cover is there just to keep junk from getting into the system and jamming it up. I think you could just use some RTV as a gasket. Now, if you're talking about a different part of the CVT, then... Ask Alley or Rich.
A no limit CDI is a good idea if you want to run full throttle all the time. It will let you.

You need an impact if you're going to do much with scooters. I use two air impacts but some like an electric. They are not as powerful however. Mark the nuts with a marker and then you'll know when to stop with your new impact. Pull your clutch bell and inspect the three pads on the assembly. If they are glazed or thin that may be part of your problem. Turn the assembly over and inspect the springs holding the pads down. Make sure they're not broke and you can't pull the pad arm out with your hand. Your belt should have 3 numbers stamped on it. The second one is your width in mms. Measure across the width and if it's two off you need a belt. I would swap it out anyway, a belt can look perfectly normal and still cause a host of problems. Look inside the assembly and make sure the main spring is OK, it usually is fine. Look inside the bell and if there's a bunch of crap on the engagement surface sand it off or use some steel wool. Blow everything off with an air compressor to get the particles out and reassemble with your new impact wrench. You did get an impact didn't you? Rich

To test if something is not right YOU NEED TO TWIST the THROTTLE quick NOT SLOW. Twisting the throttle fast it will bog if it is lacking fuel it will BOG on you. REASON is twisting the throttle slow allows the motor to NOT get a MOUTH FULL of AIR at one time and it will respond pretty good. But twist the throttle fast and it will LET YOU KNOW it may need more fuel to MUCH AIR AT ONE TIME and not enough fuel. So you always want to test the motor with FULL QUICK TWISTS of the throttle. The RPMS should rise fast and Drop fast, if the rpms hang and are slow to drop it is to LEAN, if the Rpms drop and keep on dropping past your set idle it is to RICH.
As for any slipping or bad clutch etc.. You will know that right away, If you twist the throttle to gain speed and the motor responds with HIGH RPMS and its not moving out something is slipping in the CVT, it is either the belt or clutch, But if it's the clutch it will be a jerky motion to it. i will test these things as you advise when i return from vacation. the thing behaving the same w/ a new carb as with the previous one makes me think it is not the carb, but i haven't a clue what else it might be. thanks again for all the help
