I don't see any dirty laundry here. Just some guys sharing frustrations and getting needed encouragement to handle them well. Nobody has posted indelicate details of anything.

Holy smokes, guys. I didn't really expect or need any responses. When I first posted this, it was midnight, I was exhausted, and I was totally disappointed after pulling the lid off the canner. Like I said, I just wanted to vent. I didn't expect any replies. JR , you're right. I could have re-processed the failed seals. Luckily enough for me, the next morning I was contacted by two separate out-of-town friends who were planning on being in town that week at differing times. I just put the sauce in question in the fridgermafrator and served two amazing pasta meals. Problem solved. I've done a lot of canning between then and now...all much more successfully. Today was of certain importance though because it was the first day I was able to get all 4 of my kids fully involved... and instead of it being a lesson alone, they all knew their own role in the process and joyfully lent their hands in the effort. They were actually VERY helpful. Up until now, it's just been me teaching them. I sent them all out to the garden this morning to pick tomatoes. My oldest daughter (also a cancer survivor, by the way guys) then cored all the tomatoes. After I scalded the tomatoes, all of the kids peeled them. Waylon, my 3 year old, puts his siblings to shame in the tomato peeling department. By the time my wife (also a nurse) got home from work, we darn near had things wrapped up. Awesome day. I guess what I'm getting at here is that my original post was one made out of momentary frustration. That frustration was fleeting and really not that big of a deal. In fact, that was my first and, fingers crossed, only canning failure. Growing and preserving my own food is, and always has been, a deeply satisfying thing for this scooter rider. Even more satisfying is that I can do so with my children, just as my grandma did with me. There are plenty of things in life about which a guy could get upset. Blown-up jars of spaghetti sauce in the canner is not one of those things. Please don't mistake my venting for an actual complaint about my circumstances.

Never did Dr. I know how it can be. Sometimes you just need to let off some steam or its going to explode in the wrong direction. No harm done. Like I said above, just the guys letting off a bit of steam and getting some encouragement at the same time.
