gy6 50cc mtr, gmw rx50 scooter. installed a koso performance variator with koso slider rollers today. lost a lot of top end and from the sound lower rpms. I installed slider rollers like dr pulley varator diagram shows. rollers are oriented with flat side w/logo up and other flat side toward center where crankshat goes. also took clutch apart , cleaned and lubed needle brg w/high temp grease. WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG!!!!

What gram weights? Are you sure you did not get grease on the pulley and or to much it is being flung out and got on your pulley and belt causing slipping?

I was very carefull w/the grease. just a thin film and the wiped with a rag. I've worked on a lot of industrial veri drives but these scooters are a different critter. I'm old but still learning a few things. John at NYC scooter parts has been a big help

ok so 8g was not your best choice of sliders .
Alley what do you think about the slider weights what would be a better choice for him I have 5g sliders and 6g on the way .

Remember if you have rollers and you LIKE the current weights SAY 5Gram and you like the way it runs AND want to change to SLIDERS go with 1 gram higher on the SLIDERS. The rpms will stay about the same and because they are 1 gram heavier you may pick up a couple mph on the top end.
Rollers= For every gram UP OR DOWN the rpms will change by 500-600 Sliders= For every gram UP OR DOWN the rpms will change by 200-350
Remember: Heavy Rollers you will loose RPMS Lighter Rollers you will gain RPMS But you have to balance the outcome: TO light of weights May Not PUSH the Variator all the way out and you will loose TOP END. TO Heavy of weights May PUSH the Variator out to SOON and the motor will not be able to build RPMS. Alleyoop
