auto choke?
by: scooterhater - Aug 25, 2014 8:57:24 GMT -6

You got it pal, there is no temp sensor involved. The timing on the plunger coming out is dependent on the variances of voltage between bikes and that particular auto-choke. Typical Chinese slap dash engineering. So some of them shut off early, some late, and some just by luck are spot on. Don't ya love it? HAR! Rich yup definately not a precision enginered control

auto choke?

gy6 50cc, I know it has resistance and that moves the needle, is this circuit tied to a temp sensor, how does it know when the engine is warm enough. may be a dumb ? but I just like to know what makes something work. re read the tutorial on the choke and it looks like it works strickly off of current flowing thru it and the material around the resistance heating up.

update: pulled carb and drilled out plug over a/f screw. while I had it off went ahead and opened bowl and removed jets and cleaned, everything looked ok. I had a new enricher so compared it to existing one and the old one seemed to be stuck about half way. reinstalled carb w/ new enricher and adj. a/f. idles and runs good and starts everytime warm or cold engine.probaly didn't need to open up the carb but I had it off so figured now is the time to check. maybe in another 20 years of this I'll be almost as good as Alleyoop. and MAYBE NOT

Did you try .002" intake and .003" exhaust. I'm just pulling your chain...I just want to see how many times I can get you to set your valves. Have you tried .009" and .003 Angstrom? Yeah, try that, just once more. on the 3rd try I went ahead and adj. that 3rd valve that sits off to the side by it'self and now all is fine!!!!!!

gmw rx50, gy6 50cc engine. posted earlier about a starting problem and alleyoop says it is running lean. am sure that is the problem because now the idle is up and down. the air/fuel screw is plugged and I will atempt to drill it out. if I screw this up what carb do these engines take? the carbs are not very expensive so it might be a good idea to have one on hand. before I work on the carb I will check for any air leaks

reset valves to .002, started good ran at top speed all normal. shut off and had to wait 3/4 minutes before it would restart. it does this consistantly. do I need a new enricher?

Check the ENRICHER, take it off when COLD and lay it on it's side and cover the hole with your thumb and start the motor. Now keep you thumb on the hole and watch the Valve on the ENRICHER and see if it EXTENDS out about 1/4 of an inch in about 3-5 minutes. Then shut the motor off and watch the enricher and see how long it takes for the Valve to RETRACT. Alley enricher extends in about 3-4 minutes, takes the same amount of time to retract

gy6 50cc engine, starts good on cold engine and idles down after warm up. runs out good. when you try to restart on warm engine it tal kes an excessive amount of cranking to start. once it starts idles and runs good and reaches max speed and rpms. did routine maintenance about a 100 miles ago including valves, set at .003. the starting problem just surfaced. what do I need to check thx Jim
