I'm not in a good mood tonight, I just had to change the 3 filters,,,,,,again, a month and a half and only 925 miles. Dirt so thick you could scrape off a few ounces. This time I did take pictures but all that's going to do is piss me off when I look at them. My car going 10 to 15,000 miles gets its k&n cleaned. The 2 air filters on a majesty are bigger in area than the malibu but only get 925 miles of the same road! If I wasn't capable to service my own as some people, can you imagine the bills at the yamaha stealer shop, maybe 6 or 7 times a year? They did that air filter mount up on purpose to keep the dealers in pocket change.
Actually there is only 2.2 miles to get to black top so 4.4 miles each time I go some where are dirt. My suz bandit 1200 needed its k&n cleaned once a year also. Guess I'll go out to the shop and wash them out so they will be clean in sept.

I just looked up the retail (DEALER/STEALER) prices: left filter $27.99, right filter $29.99, transmission filter $41.99 for a total of $99.97 plus a couple hours labor so those who can't do it them selves are in for a $250 to $300 bill for changing the airfilters on a majesty. (bike bandit has list prices on their web site for yamaha) such a deal.

I think it's time to have the dirt oiled or it's time to get some kind of duct made so the engine will breathe away from under the scoot or it just occured to me how about a prefilter like a oiled gauze or a k&n fitted into the end of the snorkel,, snug slip fit that you can easily remove after the dirt section of the ride then slip it back in for the final leg back to the pad,,, the filter setup on that thing is crazy

Are those the K&N filters that give such great economy because they do such a poor job of filtering the air, the oil coating attracts dirt like a magnet and cost sooo much less than paper filters because you clean and reoil them yourself?
