Help identifying (ballpark) this Chinese scooter? By bw (Read 634 times)

Friend just bought it from a guy who had zero info on/about it. If anyone could get us close to identifying what it is, we'd appreciate being able to try and ask around locally for someone who could work on it.  Note: it started, and she rode it around the block before buying. Put it in van, took it home.. now it won't start.  We want to ask around for anyone who could work on it, but probably need to know what to tell people, no?

If you want some one to look at it or even work on it locally it might be a good idea to put in your profile what city you live in.

On the bottom of the engine, left side next to the stand there will be some numbers, probably with "139" as part of them. Tell us what that is. There will be a plate on the scooter that includes the vin number, it will have other information on it, snap picture of that. The pictures so far tell us little.

I'm not sure, but I'd bet it's a scooter.

QT style body. Jin Lun, Baotion, Lifan. There should be a tin rivet plate somewhere with a point of origin and model number stamped on it. The burgundy color is quite distinctive though. Doesn't much matter which factory cranked it out. The fixing should be all the same to a qualified mechanic. If it has been sitting for a while it's entirely likely that it swallowed some bad gas and crud that clogged up the carburetor jets.

The sooner you post the number plate, motor number, a few decent pictures, and what city the sooner you will be back in the saddle again.

I'll get and post better info later today - the scooter and I are about 15 miles apart.

Jinlun is the only one I can find that uses that distinctive burgundy paint.
