You put a piece of paper on the end of the pipe that bolts to the muffler and trace it and punch a hole in where the bolts go or trace it using the gasket material. If you used paper then take that cut it out and trace it over the gasket material. If you used the gasket material to trace it then just cut it out. Alleyoop

You don't feel like spending $3 on the one you linked? And I thought I was cheap.

HAHAHA, it is going to cost him more for the gasket material because they sell it by the roll.

Well I was wondering,m how bad it is to ride around with a small muffler leak? ..... I wanted to fix it last night and yes it was $9.66 after tax for the one with metal on top. I cannot even cut it out to make one, its so hard to even use a jig saw on it. Will it cause any damage if I don't fix it? Looks like I'm waiting till tues or wed for it to get here.

Did you use exhaust gasket material? Regular permatex material will vaporize in a heartbeat. I personally would not run with a suspected exhaust leak. I understand the venerable Alley's reasoning and he's probably correct. I just don't like cold air possibly working it's way up to the exhaust valve after you shut down. I remember my brother would always hop under his 396 Chevy after a 1/4 mile run and plug the headers with rags. I bet Alley and JR did that more than a few times. They didn't want that cold air touching those hot valves. That metal is 400+, it doesn't like cold air. If you're hearing it on the right side it's probably an exhaust leak. Get a proper gasket bro. I put the proper gasket from ebay on it and it still makes noise and now I think its the piston knocking inside.

Shoot us a video so we can see and hear whats going on. In the vid, Start filming, then start the bike so we can hear it start. Then walk the camera around the bike getting it close to the spots making the noise. That will give us more info and we can better help you then.

Yes I will when I get off work today. Would worn out compression rings make the exhaust sound weird? I'll test the lights today too.
