I am kinda new around here, I own a tao tao 50 and i love it and love scootin, it hasnt taken much to keep it going with the help from these forums. That being said the Yamaha dealer is offering pretty good deals on a zuma 50 1 light model for a little over 2000, I am entertaining the idea. Anyone can chime in on what to expect from a new Zuma compared to my tao tao, any comments would be appreciated.

Cyborg, I havent done much investigating I came here first, the base price was 2590 plus extras, and destination and set up fees. I dont know but have heard there wasnt much markup so they were staying pretty close to price, if so that would be around 20% discount on end of year stock.

Anyone can chime in on what to expect from a new Zuma compared to my tao tao, any comments would be appreciated. I have a Bintelli Havoc, 150cc and it is a Yamaha Zuma clone. At least that's what I was told by the dealer I purchased it from. And while it's true, it does look like a Zuma and a few parts are interchangeable, thatis not the case when it comes to the engine. The Zuma has a far superior engine compared to your typical 50cc or a 125/150cc GY6. For starters, it has an EFI (electronic fuel injection), ECU supporting modern protocols .... The engine itself has better quality components and is covered in heat dissipating fins.... In addition, there's a million upgrades for the Zuma.... Number one reason, Yamaha has setup shop throughout the USA and service, parts and information is widely available. Yes, it's a more expensive scooter, but as the ole saying goes; "You get what you pay for".

Thanks dmart, what do you think about the price? I'm not sure, I haven't researched the 50cc all that much. I've looked into the 125cc... But I do have a general idea for what they go for... $2000 isn't a bad price, but pay attention to the year.. Yamaha already has the 2015's hitting the showroom floors... So, if you buy a brand new one, and it's say a 2013, that's going to hurt your resale value... But, if you're getting a 2013, you may be able to beat the dealer up with price and get a steal! One thing I want to point out... You're going to find people that point to a brand new chinese scoot for as low $500~$750.00... And that price may be a good deal for what it is... But a Chinese scooter is not in the same class as a Yamaha Zuma.... Granted, this is all my opinion and I for sure advise doing a ton of research.. Good luck with what ever you decide and if you get a Zuma,, post lots of pics! They are sweet arse scooters, afterall...!

I wasn't trying to run down the scoot,,,, not one bit,,, and I know for a fact I'm completely out of touch on prices when it comes to anything,,,, I also believe that you get what you pay for as long as you do your homework and buy correctly,,,,,

Well, lets see....
I paid $200 for a 750. So that is .26666.. Ok, .27 cents a cc. That means your 50cc should cost about... $13.50 So a price of $2,600 is nothing short of a heart attack for me. I say pass on it.
LOL I still think that's a bit high. What year is it? If it's not a 2014, then make him knock $500 off it. And YES, if you know how to look at the sales person correctly, they will do it. Ask Petey.

The Ruckus clone Zuma or the regular scooter? Yamaha makes a good bike, and Bike companies usually make scoots like they make bikes. So, you're probably good to go on this one. But I'd still make him drop some off the price, just because I'm a cheap bastich.

Yeah, if you can get a dealer to honor the $400.00 for a 2014, 50cc, that would be quite a score!
