I was wanting to buy a 180cc upgrade kit but it appears to be setup for drum brakes. My Scooter is a Bintelli Havoc 150cc and I have both front and rear disk brakes. Is it possible to use my components off my disk brake engine and convert the drum in this 180cc kit to disk?

To tell you the truth NO, many have tried and not succeeded on other disk brake scooters. What they did was order a new motor and did not realize the motor was for a drum brake setup and they could not convert it to disk.

The suplier for the motor cases should be able to tell you what it will take though.

Yea he will tell you NO, that is what it will take and what makes you think they would know?? Most do not know what makes a scoot tick (HAHA), let alone something that needs to be modified. They are sellers they do not make the parts or have any idea of any possible options.
Don't give him hope John it hasn't succeeded to date, it would be easier to go to drum but here again he would need a different rim to fit on the case then all the cables and drum brake parts and handle bar brake system. The only thing is get a case for the disk brake setup.

Why do brakes have anything to do with the motor? I'm lost on this one.
I never paid any attention to the rear brakes and how they were mounted.

They mount right into the case. The shoes fit on pivots that are mounted in the case. The disc rotor hooks to the wheel but the calipers attach to the case and I think the swingarm in some cases. Anyway, they make drum to disc conversion kits but they're like $400.00. I'd just stick with the drum.

I did the conversion , because I could not get a replacement rear wheel . I will get some pics up tomorrow .

Hey gang, I made a video showing the setup of my 50cc Bintelli Havoc's rear disk brake setup.

It appears to be the case that my motor is in fact already a "drum motor" that has been factory converted to use rear disk brakes. The caliper is mounted on the swing arm and the rotor to the right side of the wheel/rim.

 Can you cite some examples. The info i'm getting so far is that your NO is inaccurate. 

I took note of your comment in a different thread where you said I may getting bad info.... People are telling me I can in fact convert my specific scooter, because it's already been factory converted.

Well that is great already converted drum casing to a disk, so then yes you just might need to swap the drive shaft from the old to the new case.

If you already have a " conversion kit" from the other case what are you waiting for?,,, just make sure it's the same mounting points on the new case and as Alley says change out the shaft and call it a deal

I was hoping for a little more of a response than that.... Not so much from you in particular , but just anyone whos actually had their hands dirty and done this.

For example: if you could verify that my Havoc is in  fact a drum motor setup for disk brakes... I mean I get that every scooter is unique and you may not even seen a setup like mine, but it would be cool if I could find someone that knew for 100% sure.

Have you ever heard of another scooter that is setup like this?

The only thing holding me up is not knowing for 100% sure....

I've had good responses thus far and it seems like it would be an easy swap using my existing parts, but If I drop $500~$1500 on either or 180cc or a 232cc....I want to know for 100% sure

I'm leaning heavily towards the 180cc kit... However Taida I have learned is the cream of the crop and would really like to build a TAIDA 232cc....

I may just build both....

My plan for one of my Havocs: I'm gonna put a 4 valve setup with an Ecotrons EFI... I'm not gonna bore it... I can get a 58.5 BBK kit and a 58.5mm 4 valve piston.... Truly convert my Havoc into a Zuma clone.  

The other one I need to build for long trips and reliability. I want oil cooled by a radiator (ported at the crankcase, not a drain plug kit) and I may even go as far the water cooled Taida 67mm BBK Tall (75.2mm (for 6600 or 8600 stroker)) cylinder... Good thing is, with this 180cc kit from Partsforscooters.com I can start out at 180cc and go up to 232cc at my leisure 

Anyhow, back to brake.... What would guys you suggest I do to verify that my setup is a disk brake mounted on a drum engine? Should I pull the back wheel? (That would be a big job),.......

To be sure you need to pull the rear wheel off and then measure the face and see if it will match up to the 180cc case.

look on the other side of the rear of the engine , the weather has been slushie rain yesterday otherwise I would have taken some pictures . See if you can see the casting holes for the drum brakes . I would leave it disc . I bored the case out for a 180cc and it has been good for some time . The Bintelli's engine has some differences , the one I had in my shop had no oil drain plug only the cap with the filter screen . I suspect there are other differences .
