A point well made, Andrew. It was only a matter of time before the Chinese labor force realized that it deserved higher wages for the hours put in. While I am not particularly a union man in this case the Chinese workers need one. They deserve better wages, better working conditions, better living conditions. Hello, China!! Welcome to the modern world.

I'm wondering if this will mean better scooters at higher prices or the same old crates at higher prices. The fun of cheap Chinese scooters is making them run and reliable through your own efforts. If they become expensive and are STILL unreliable, their appeal goes out the window. Rich

The Chinese Government will squash any Labor Unionization. The have no problem killing people who defy them. You do as they say or you go to prison and then you get to work for free. A few pennies is better than nothing. This is what happened in all the other countries that OUR factories went to, as the workers demanded more they moved to another country but now they have found a country and government that won't allow the workers to demand anything, you work cheap or you go to prison and work for free or you die. End of story, there are no Human Rights or Workers Rights in China.

250, read the article again. You are right in that there is much more government control over the workers in China than in the so called free world. However the Chinese government is smart enough to reakize that if you make slave labor out of your workers productivity and quality control goes out the window. As the world demands better good from China, now the worlds largest manufacturing country, the workers have to be reimbursed in a better mannner. Will China ever become a capitolist society? No. But in order to maintain their position in the world economy they will have to loosen the purse strings and pay their workers more than they do now. What we think of as poor wages here is a step up for the Chinese laborer.
