Hello fellow gy6 brethren and scooter gods. So I picked up a 150cc gy6 on CL for $100.
Fuel tank was full if varnish, dead batt etc etc.
I cleaned tank and changed all fuel and vac lines. Added new carb and petcock. Scoot wanted to start but was clattering like a mofo. I checked spark via zip tied spark plug to frame and had spark. I the found the valves were tightened all the way flush. I adjusted both to .004 and she started. I rev'd the crap out of her and she was roaring.
After I hit the kill switch I couldn't get her started again. Pulled plug and tested for spark again and nothing. I should mention I had the batt jumper'd to my truck but ignition was off.
Could I have really blown out the stator? I already switched out the cdi with a spare and same results. Any ideas? Thanks dudes.

Try getting spark on the motor, could just be a bad ground from battery to frame you also need a good ground from motor to frame. Have you checked the Fuse coming off the Positive post of the battery which feeds the Ignition switch. Alleyoop

Thanks for the response alleyoop. All my grounds are good. Fuse is good. I'm thinking I some how fried the Stator.

Easy enough to find out test the BOTTOM power wire on the TWO PLUG side of your CDI when CRANKING IT with a volt meter. Should be around 30VAC NOT DC if it is then not your stator. Usually if you blow something it is the CDI or FUSE. Now do not just look at the fuse it could be bad and probably it is a tube fuse which could be blown on the ends where you cannot see it. You actually have to test them on each side to make sure juice it getting to it and juice is flowing to the other side. Alleyoop

So I'm a tad confused on the test. Am I testing the red/black wire or the white/black wire? Also do I set my multimeter to the acv setting? Do I just touch it with the red wire from multi? Where does black wire go?

"I rev'd the crap out of her and she was roaring."
"After I hit the kill switch I couldn't get her started again."
Seems like I might start trouble shooting at the kill switch instead of stator.

Hey thanks for all the advice my scooter brethren. Turns out it was the stator. Replaced and have spark again. But have some other issues now.
