When a scooter has a twin-filament headlight bulb, are both filaments activated when the brights are on?

Correct, but both filaments come on with the passing flasher.

So my bulb is 40/45watt. That means the high beam is only 5 watts more than the low beam? Are you sure both don't stay on when I use high beams?

The theory is that the filaments are oriented in different directions so it's not just about brightness. But I think you should get down in front of your headlights, after a protracted period in total darkness, (so you can see the filaments), and have somebody turn on the lights with the brights on! Maybe you'll have better luck, I tried this but I've had to type bi tooch cinse I treed thiss% Iz itt darc yett?

I think every epileptic on the road is going to love you. Either that or they won't remember you...

I want to make myself as visible as possible. Like you, I want to make myself as visible possible.... A neat Item I found on Ebay are Illuminated LED reflectors. In addition to always (when the scooter is started) being on, they act as a blinker/stop light. They're cheap, draw very little power and gives your turning/stopping more viewing angles (from the side)....

drmartin, those blinkers may be illegal depending on your state. I would make myself look like a Christmas tree if it were legal to do so.
