Mornin Ally, I went for a ride a few days ago and noticed that when I let off the throttle I get one back fire. If I remember right, I read that you said the cause of that was because the carb was set too lean. So I turned the new carb 1/4 richer. I haven't rode it again but I just wanted to know if I'm on the right track. The idle and RPM's sounds/looks good, but it does back fire, once, each time I let off of it.
Question 2, It seems that my top end is 63/64 mph. I'm thinking that 50 mph, top, would be a safe speed for the motor. What do you think??

The Backfire is definitely a lean condition, BUT I would check your pipe where it connects to the motor. Check if a nut came off one of the studs and or they are loose, that is more of an An Air leak by the pipe and or your air filter is loose on the carb. Usually if LEAN on the throttling down they will make a POP sound not a backfire. I would question the 60+ mph maybe 50+ that is the speedo being off, but they are all off and they get worse the faster you go. Alleyoop

I've GOT to find a gasket that goes between the pipe and the muffler. That's the only leak I can find. We went for a ride yesterday and stopped by some friends habitat. The Wife made a comment that she named the trike her "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang". The women laugh, the men just look at me. I got to get that fixed. Where could I find one,, FAST? (well, at least after payday)

That's an idea. I should pull it apart to see what it looks like and go from there.

Morning Alley. Would you know the part number for the gasket that goes between the pipe and the muffler? (not the head and pipe gasket) John at TVNACMAN wants me to pull the gasket so he can see it. I am worried that it might break and he don't have one or look like another one and might be the wrong size. It's for an 09 150cc cruiser. ***There is a gasket that goes in there, right? It's leaking.****

Nope, no gasket the only gasket on that exhaust is where it attachs to the motor that is it. Those mufflers and pipe are CHEAPO CHEAPO CHEAPO. When I got my trike back in 2009 mine lasted 3 months and I had the rivets taken out and welded on both ends. Then the baffels broke inside and were making a racket then the pipe broke. So I ordered a whole new system from Ice Bear $106.00 bucks complete put that on and again lasted 3 months. So I said to myself your going to spend 106 bucks every 3-5 months FURGETABOUT IT. So I got a Supertrapp muffler and had a hotrod shop build me a complete 1 1/4 header pipe and that has been on now going on 5 years and it looks like it is brand new. Alleyoop

Small leaks in the exhaust can be sealed with silicone sealer used like a gasket or for slip joints. I've used it on several aftermarket motorcycle exhausts. Clear is best.

That will not work on these mufflers they are NOT SMALL LEAKS they are leaking all around on both ends. As you can see in the muffler picture I had both ends welded. And mind you I had the SECOND exhaust system welded as well but then the Pipe broke they just are CHEAP crap not worth replacing with the same. Alleyoop

Thanks for the heads-up. I will take your advice if I should acquire such a system.
