Hey alleyoop,
I checked the enricher and saw that it did not look like the "bad" one pictured. there was no gap between the small metal cylinder holding the needle, and the base of the enricher.
However, in lightly fiddling with it I noted that I could not pull it out ant further from its base but WAS able to push it in a bit (I could feel a spring behind the needle providing resistance). This suggested that maybe the needle was protruding as far as it should protrude, meaning maybe it was overextended like the "bad" enricher in your photos.
Thoughts?
I didnt take photos bc my phone was dead and time was a wastin'.
I ordered a two-stroke enricher replacement judt to be sure. When it gets here Friday I can swap it out abd see if the symptoms go away.

hey alleyoop,
Got my enricher replacement, but the connector (male) is too small for the connector (female) that leads to the wires heading elsewhere. Any thoughts on how to DIY fix that? Or will I need to hint the Internet for the enricher with the proper connector size?
Tx!!

Not a problem As long as the enricher fits the carb you can cut the wires on both ends and use female and male quick connecters you can get at any hardware store. Alleyoop

Excellent! So here's the connector from the new enricher: Just wanna make sure we're talking about the same thing. I cut the wires, buy two of these connectirs that fit, from hardware store, then is the fitting the wires into the new connectors process tricky at all? I appreciate your time and know how as always, alley.

Well now that I think about it a little bit I WOULD NOT cut the connector on the harness. Reason being is what if you get another carb or another enricher then you would ALWAYS have to cut the plug on the Enricher and put on male plugs ins. So if you really want to use the ENRICHER and not get the right one then i would use the quick snap on connectors. That way you leave the connector on the harness and just splice into the two wires behind the connecter and just cut the plug off the enricher. You would only need Two Snap on connectors they may come in a set of more than two, but here is how it would connect. ONE on Each Wire behind the harness connector and it does not matter which wire from the Enricher attachs to on the harness one.

i've tried those they don't work as well as the one Alley has in his pic,,,with two holes on one side and one on the other ,,,with those you lay the wires in close it with a pair of pliers and BAM it's done

I'm heading to hardware store right now. Hoping I can find it. Just to be clear, this involves keeping the plug in connector from harness INTACT, but working the clipped enricher wire BEHIND that plug somehow, then connecting? I've just never connected wires this way, so I'm trying to get a handle on the mechanics of this. Sry for all the questions

I've just never connected wires this way, so I'm trying to get a handle on the mechanics of this. Sry for all the questions YES LEAVE THE PLUG ON THE HARNESS and put one of the connectors on each wire BEHIND the harness plug and then slip in the the wires from the ENRICHER into each one PUSH the METAL TAB DOWN and CLOSE the cover on the connector. This way if you ever get the right ENRICHER or a new carb with the right plug all you need to do is pull the OLD ENRICHER WIRES out of the connectors and leave the connectors there. Alleyoop

Hey alleyoop, and anyone else,
I instaleld my new enricher/autochoke, after splicing it with the harness wires as you instructed (learned a new trick in the process!). The high rev issue upon starting has now gone away! Thank you!
however, the scooter still rarely starts via the key, and it starts on and off via kick start, but even then, sometimes it will just die after I let it idle for a while. Spark plug, battery, and fuse are all new. the compression test proceeded as described on this thread, above (it felt like good pressure to me). Kind of flummoxed what else there is.
Maybe the stator?
My other suspiocion is that even after addressing these other issues on this thread, the carb may be clogged up somehow, and stopping fuel from getting to the engine. I figured, why not learn how to take off and clean the carb? I'm getting more comfortable working with my scooter parts, and have a generally steady hand. Apparently it's less difficult than it might seem. Any tips for where there might be a video (on this site or elsewhere) for disassembling and cleaning my type of carb? I have a 49cc TGB 2007 r50x with a 2-stroke minarelli carb.
Thanks!

or is it maybe just better to buy a replacement minarelli two-stroke carb and try to learn how to attach it myself?

There is not much that can go wrong on the carb especailly yours since it is a carb for a 2 stroke. See the AIR RATIO SCREW on your carb on the side of the AIR FILTER intake. Lets try adjusting the carb to get the HIGHEST IDLE from the AIR RATIO SCREW. follow this procedure. Now remember small turns like 1/8 turns only on those carbs it does not take much to make a big difference. Alleyoop scooterdoc.proboards.com/thread/7678/2ts-carb-tuning

Will do, thanks! I've been tinkering with the air/fuel screw and idle screw, thinking I had them just right. But I always lose track of where they were set. I'll go back to the drawing board, do the 1/8 turns test you posted. I'll go back to square one and see what happens.
Was just worried that maybe the carb gut gummed up with old gasoline from over the winter and maybe that clogged up the "jets."
