Older 2 strokes tend to be horrible on fuel,,,modern ones are way better,,,still not as good as a four stroke tho

Older 2 strokes tend to be horrible on fuel,,,modern ones are way better,,,still not as good as a four stroke tho I think we could debate that. I have had a bunch of the GY6's and I think the Stella is right there in mpg possibly better. I never checked the mpg's that close but around town the Stella is getting better than 85 mpg. But if I do take it and run at higher speeds 50 or so for long periods of time the mpg does drop quite a bit.

No doubt the stella 2t gets better mpg,,,Fuelly.com quotes 65-75 as the average,,,and just puttin around town you get 85,,,totally reasonable,,,but the stella has a huge advantage over a gy6,,,the manual trans,,,this is the key to great mpg,,,,direct drive,,,my et4 vespa got 50 average,,,worse than my dr350 with an engine over double the size,,and one of the reasons i sold it,,,another of the big reasons i sold it was you practically had to take the engine out to do any work,,,(thats another thread),,,but i digress ,,The official mpg quote for the stella 4t is 140,,,the biggest bullsh!t story on the planet,,,but after break in i've seen 110,,,that's taking it easy and not flying around like normal,,,normally i see 90-100mpg usually settling in around 95,,,but i ride fast and i'm almost always pinned,,(after building and riding a s4 ducati monster everything is slow),,and not to be a pick but i said modern 2 strokes which your stella is,,,older px150 vespa's mpg?,,,,44 to 63 (again fulley.com),,,,and thats with the manual trans,,,i can see high 30's-mid 40's as the high with a cvt,,,those ancient architecture engines just are not as efficient ,,,and also four stroke engine designs and more importantly engine management is the reason for the crazy power and efficiency you see in modern engines,,,dmartin just got two yamaha smaxes (lucky bastard) one for him and for the wife,,,he went over 80mph with a 155cc,,,i can only guess what the mpg will be like at cruising speeds,,easy 100+ i'll wager,,,and it would be crazy great with a manual trans,,,

If you are going to modify it, get a 2 stroke. Stock, 50cc 2 and 4 strokes tend to go about the same speed now. 4 strokes are smoother, quieter, get better fuel economy, pollute less, and now are slightly easier to get parts for since 2 strokes are slowly disappearing. 2 strokes are easier and more fun to modify, and are capable of producing more power than most 4 strokes. But, to pass emissions, they are now saddled with a lot of emissions controls which slow them down. A good 2 stroke for speed is Genuine. Those puppies are still fast. Durability and refinement, KYMCO.
