Thanks ! I am fairly confident that is his problem and very confident that the fella when he sits on it it dies has the same problem. I have worked on several Stellas and this is for sure a problem with these bikes. Easy fix. I just get a chunk of new wire coil it around a round shaft screwdriver solder it to the existing wire extending it a inch or two and problem solved with zero comebacks.

Same as my other post. Check the 12 volt wire at the coil make sure the wire in the crimp connector is not frayed or loose.

Check the 12 volt power wire at the coil, had a similar issue and the wire inside the crimp connector was frayed.

It was a fun project with a few heartaches. It didn't need many parts, just a lot of attention to details. I would have liked to put a lot more aftermarket goodies on it but scootrus is not taking orders and the rest of the vendors were cost prohibitive. All in I have about $500 so I am ok on this one. The biggest expense was the cost of the paint it self.$63 a quart, plus catalyst, and reducer.

I cracked the code for posting pics. It is a 2003 Stella that needed lots of love{which it received} It is now painted and about 95% completed waiting on a few parts. Will post a pic. when it is done.

I found it on offer up for $200. Took about 15 minutes to get it purring and about a week to paint it.

I adjustuter the valves but the problem persists If you adjusted the valves it is not a two stroke.

It will cost only a few cents more to use premium so why not? I only use 93 octane with no ethanol. Over kill maybe but I know I have good fuel under my butt.

Older 2 strokes tend to be horrible on fuel,,,modern ones are way better,,,still not as good as a four stroke tho I think we could debate that. I have had a bunch of the GY6's and I think the Stella is right there in mpg possibly better. I never checked the mpg's that close but around town the Stella is getting better than 85 mpg. But if I do take it and run at higher speeds 50 or so for long periods of time the mpg does drop quite a bit.

I had a 500 and 750 Kaw three cylinder two strokes back in the day and they ruled light to light. Also had a Suzuki GT550 3 cylinder Very nice bike good power, quiet and smooth. Alot of people were shocked it was two stroke.
