I like the stella 4t,,but i wouldn't mind a 2t either,,,but i must admit they did a pretty good job with the 4t,,,it does need a pipe and carb tho,,almost anything i've had over the years has needed that I agree the 4t is a very nice scoot. But with mine and the retro look the ring ding ding sound works well.People can not believe that it is a 2005 scooter which makes me happy in as much as I went to a great deal of effort to give it the vintage look and the 2 stroke with the Sito plus exhaust bring it all together.

Problem is, 2-stroke engines were mainly used in scooters during what we refer to as the unreliable years, late 90's-2009. Around 2010-2012, 4-stroke engines became the norm due primarily to emissions requirements. The quality of many scooter brands also have shown a noticeable rise since then. Part of this (perceived?) increase in quality is due to new factories with better production methods and controls that were built in the early 2000s. Another part is the fact 4-stroke engines are not as rough on themselves as 2-stroke engines, after all they fire half as often. You must be referring to China specific scoots. Vespa,Lambretta,Heinkle,Honda,Yamaha etc. have used and made their reputations off of two strokes since the 1940's I would never trade my two stroke Stella for a four stroke. The sound just goes with the look of the bike.

4 strokes get better gas mileage and you don't have to keep adding oil to the gasoline Two strokes are lighter, more power, and you don't have to change the oil. It's a personnel call as 2 stroke vs 4 stroke. On a scooter mine is a 2 stroke. Different strokes for different folks.

[quote author=" cyborg" source="/post/104635/thread" timestamp=,cons, they stink and they are noisy and dirty,,, I thought that was a pro and not a con. Nothing like the smell of a two stroke first thing in the morning.

I bought a 1964 Allstate{Vespa} that had sat for 20+ years, after cleaning the carb and points it started on the third kick. After that it was usually a one kick scoot. The toughest part was it had sat so long that the clutch had seized and wouldn't disengage.I pulled up to a brick wall started the engine, disengage the clutch and put it in first gear and viola happy motoring.

My son and daughter in law went to Wally Mart. Giant crowds and fist fight over a T.V. The only thing they came back with was the knowledge of never doing that again.

Very nice Randy,,,jesus that thing is clean!!!,,,Let me ask what is that chrome bar that goes thru the leg well and wraps the cowls?,,,crash bar? and what rear lite are you running?....not the GIGANTIC DINNER TABLE FROM OUTERSPACE!!!!!!! (you have to say it like that with reverb),,,,, It is the mount for the cowl protectors and doubles as a foot rest for the passenger, but I trimmed my down a bit. Yes I still have the factory rear tail light. I want to replce it with the "Acorn" style but it is always out of stock. But I did get rid of the fugly rear bumper.

Last ride? NO WAY! It's 80 out today and more of the same is expected until sometime in Jan. Then it gets cold. Down into the 60's! Brrrr... I'm good with the four seasons and look forward to season changes. Nothing like Christmas in the snow belt. Winter in the garage I can work on my winter projects. Cost of living is very reasonable and I was able to retire at 52. It's all about compromises. I tolerate the snow and you the Lava slides and high cost of living.

I live in Ohio and the weather for the foreseeable future says time to call it quits for the year. The Stella has been a very good scoot that has survived the endless parade of scoots I have had. Have had many offers to buy it some were more than it's worth. But I am happy with what I have and I bought it right so she is a keeper.

Took the Stella out for the last ride of the season yesterday. It was 55* degrees and I had some errands to run. It was a good outing until I pulled up in front of the garage and it hit me,no more scooting this year. So this morning I spent a few hours cleaning and nut and bolting for next year, makes it much easier when the weather breaks and a few minutes I am on the road. I would like to post some pics. of her on here as she celebrated her birthday last month 10 years and still running and looking good. Anyone that could help with the pics. I would appreciate the help, as I am verrry computer challenged.

I think they CLAIM a 140 mpg on the 4t my 2 stroke has gotten 110 riding around at about 35 mph but goes down when I ride 50 mph or more. Mine seems to run better and better it's at 7200 miles and starts and runs better than new.

I rode a Suzuki Burgman with 36,000 miles today. It ran good and rode well. i would have bought it if the seller had been a little more flexible on the price.

I have changed regulators that were riveted from the factory and the replacement came with bolts and self locking nuts. You may not need to rivet them.
