More involved, you have to understand how the ENRICHER(CHOKE) works. It works in reverse of what a CHOKE on a car works. It is called an ENRICHER for a reason what it actually does is When the motor is cold it FEEDS extra fuel for cold starts that is why the high idle. As soon as the motor starts it then starts to feed the ENRICHER voltage to HEAT it up and as it heats up it makes the PLUNGER EXTEND out about 1/4 of an inch and CUTS off the EXTRA FUEL. That is why as you let it warm up from a cold starts in a couple of minutes the idle starts to drop because the PLUNGER is extending and cutting off the extra fuel. So knowing that disconnecting it will cause it to ALWAYS FEED EXTRA FUEL which you do not want. So you have TWO POSSIBLE OPTIONS depending on what carb you have. If you have a 24mm carb and the ENRICHER is held on with TWO SCREWS you can take the ENRICHER system off and BLOCK OFF the FUEL, AIR and FUEL OUTLET passages and put the Enricher System back on. Or you can Convert the Automatic Enricher to a MANUAL ENRICHER which is WHAT I HAVE DONE: Alleyoop MY MANUAL ENRICHER on my Trike: ENRICHER RETRACTED WHICH FEEDS FUEL AND IS THE DEFAULT POSITION WHEN MOTOR IS COLD: ENRICHER EXTENDED AFTER THE MOTOR STARTS AND VOLTAGE IS BEING FED TO HEAT UP THE ELEMENT TO EXTEND THE PLUNGER TO CUT OFF THE EXTRA FUEL:

No it's powered closed,,,which is a royal drag,,,,,,so it "fails on",,, if you unplug it the enrichment circuit will be pouring gas,,,,alley will give you the news on a manual choke,,he did one ,,,I personally like manual everything

Thanx Alleyoop n Cyborg..the tutorial was enlightening..I'm a ol Triumph rider n I took off the amal carbs n replaced w/mikuni which had a crossover tube n manual choke..this scooter business is all new( n sometimes foreign..lol) to me..w/out this forum n guys like u I'd b down w/a messed up scoot..gonna check out the manual choke( where can I get one?) That sounds more like what this ol saddletramp can understand.. Also Cyborg.. Got light kit..need to get high beam socket to allow install..the bulb socket config won't allow both bulbs to b installed...( one is H1? Low.one is H7? High) so to use the Hid kit I need 2 high beam sockets..kit is H7 ice blue.. Got it on way..will keep u posted. Thinkin bout runnin both as Hi/Lo..or mayb just both on all the time since they r 8000k..later gents..its 59 out there n my face wants wind

I really like the idea of a manual enrichener for these scoots as the stock automatics on them can be problematic,,,Alleys fix is the way to go,,,both my dr and my stella are manual (choke) enrichners and i prefer it,,,i too am an aging triumph/norton/ducati man and i like the ritual of startup ,,,even went as far as manual petcocks ,,,less parts less problems in my book

And one more reason i like Alleys setup is,,,it's so clean of an install it looks like factory,,,it doesn't look like a beaver has been gnawing on it,,,super clean

Thanx fer the links Alleyoop.. Will order soon..got another question.. I want to get rid of my breather box/air filter set up on my tao tao Lancer 150..thinkin that I could use radiator hose n generic cone air filter instead..am I thinkin correctly? Seems that my setup has a long "travel" distance from carb to air filter..bout 24" from carb to actual filter. Thinkin that if I shorten distance it would allow better air flow n mayb a lil better giddy up n go? What do u n Cyborg think?

I got to say Alley has probably one of the cleanest aftermarket installs around if he will post a pic of it you'll see what I mean,,,but you are probably going to have to rejet,,,get a open silencer also and get it over with that way when you rejet it'll be for good,,,Alley really does have a sweet setup,,,nice air intake and a super trapp silencer,,,,very nice
