Think ill try a carb like Alleyoop suggested when im off work on Wednesday. I dont doubt the jets are probably not the right size. It just dont make since that it would start perfectly for 4 days then go back to this problem again if it was the carb. If the stator was going bad is it possible it would run good when started but be hard to start? Right now i cant get it started it just sputters a little like it wants to start but doesn't.

Next time trying to start it stop and take the plug out and see if it is wet or dry or fouled. That may give us a clue to what the problem may be. Alleyoop

Yes alley good point,,,maybe the plug is going bad or completely has been gapped wrong,,,come to think of it the Yamaha chappy I'm working on had a bad plug,,it would run good then no start,,,new plug in and now it's a one kick bike

Ok I went out and tried to start the scooter this morning and it still wont start. I dont think this is related but I thought id throw it out there. When it turns over it turns slow. It will turn normal for a couple revolutions then slow then normal again. It has done this before too. It doesnt have a kick start. I thought it was from the added compression from the big bore kit. I have redone the grounds and positive battery cable with heavier gauge wire and hooked it up to a brand new 150 cold cranking amps mower battery until I figure everything out. Had the original battery tested it checked good. I lubed the bendix, Even took the starter apart and cleaned the commentator. I have had a battery tender plugged in to the new battery. It doesnt seem like this would be related but during my mystery 4 days of good starting I didnt have this problem either. Ready to pour a gallon of gas on it and light a match!

change the plug then cross the solenoid terminals and see if it will turn over easier,,,could be the solenoid's contacts are burnt,,,just had that on my truck,,,,starter was fine it was the contacts in the solenoid

Changed the plug and jumped the solenoid no difference. It came close to starting the headlight was even coming on. Noticed the starter starts turning slow when working the throttle to work the accelerator pump. Could flooding be making the starter spin slow? If you dont work the throttle it spins fast like it should but doesnt try to fire unless you work the throttle a little to get gas to it.

Yes flooding will make it harder to crank to much fuel in the chamber and on the compression stroke it it harder to get past it due to the changer being flooded.
You should not have to give it throttle to make the pump squirt extra fuel in the carb, you have the ENRICHER feeding it extra fuel already.
Do this DO NOT TOUCH the throttle and crank it and notice if it fires or not then take the plug out and see if it is wet or dry.
If it does not fire at least once and the plug is wet then you have a spark problem. If it does not fire and it is dry then you have a fuel delivery problem.
If all looks good then I would check the timing on the motor. 1. Aline the Cam Sprocket with the two little holes even with the top of the head as if your going to adjust the valves and NOW check where the Timing Pointer on the case is pointing on the flywheel. Take a picture of the timing after you align the cam, I would like to see the timing on it. I will be able to tell you if it is off, TO ADVANCED or TO RETARDED. Alleyoop

Just did what you said Alley. It didnt try to fire. Took the plug out and it was dry and a little black. It has never started on this plug just put it in an hour ago guess that is from flooding it with the throttle earlier. I have cleaned this carb at least 3 times and it was spotless all the holes in the jets were clear so would this be wrong jets, trash in carb or just a bad carb I know you said earlier my pilot was too small since i was getting the best idle at about 1 turn on the mixture screw

Good clean the plug and put in the NEXT BIGGER PILOT JET. Apparently it is not getting enough fuel to start. And when you do then set the FUEL RATIO SCREW to 2 1/2 turns out from the closed position. That should be a good starting point you can fine tune it after it starts and warms up. But usually 2 1/2 turn out most will run pretty descent. Alleyoop

Remember on how to determine if the pilot jet is to small or to big. 1. If you turn the screw CLOCKWISE closed and the motor still is running or it is 1 turn or less from the closed position. a. The pilot jet is TO BIG need the next smaller pilot jet. 2. If you turn the screw COUNTER CLOCKWISE more than 3 1/2 turns to idle good and start good. a. The pilot jet is TO SMALL need the next larger pilot jet.
the Optimal pilot jet the setting should be between 3 1/2 to 2 turns out from the closed position for whatever carb and or air filter you have on the motor. Alleyoop
