Lets check the timing IT COULD BE off by 1 chain link, don't forget someone slapped on a BBK and may have it off and because of problem is why he sold it.
1. Aline the Cam Sprocket with the two little holes even with the top of the head as if your going to adjust the valves and NOW check where the Timing Pointer on the case is pointing on the flywheel. Take a picture of the timing after you align the cam, I would like to see the timing on it. I will be able to tell you if it is off, TO ADVANCED or TO RETARDED. Alleyoop

Will do tomorrow too dark now. The cam has been changed it has several holes in it not just the 3. The little holes look even with the block to me but I could be wrong.

Will do tomorrow too dark now. The cam has been changed it has several holes in it not just the 3. The little holes look even with the block to me but I could be wrong. The Cam may be right on but they might have put the chain on off by 1 link in either direction. I don't know how else I can make you understand, I can align the cam PERFECTLY and YET be off on my timing because I did not also check the timing on the flywheel when I put the chain on. And if you have done some of these it is very easy when putting the chain on the sprocket to pull it one way or the other and by doing that you just changed the timing. So rotate it and align it so that you can wiggle both rockers as if your going to adjust the valves and then take a picture of the flywheel and the case pointer. It may be good but if so it may be low on compression that also causes hard starting and the starting gets better after the metals expand and are hot or at least warm. Alleyoop

Oh I understand what you are talking about just looked right when I put the flywheel on the t timing mark. My eyes arent as good as they used to be though so I am going to take pics of the cam and flywheel tomorrow and see what you think. Right now I am willing to try anything. Thanks so much for your help.

That to me looks good enough. So now lets check the compression if you do NOT have a compression gauge us the finger test. Finger test: Take the plug put stick your finger in the hole nice and snuge and HOLD THE THROTTLE wide open and crank it. A. If it has descent compression it will LIFT your finger off the hole. B. If you just feel some pressure on your finger then it is low on compression. Alleyoop

You have to be careful of the starters. Never run them more than a few seconds because they burn out quick.

Been busy at work so I am just getting back to the scooter. I may have it fixed I hope. Just cant believe what fixed it. Replaced the starter now it starts perfectly. I have started it 20 times and it cranks every time. Could the starter have been going bad and shorting something out?

It could have been just not enough power to turn it over fast enough for starting.

Thought I would post an update. I went out riding the scooter started fine but had a bad misfire. Change the coil and cap runs great now. While i was at the shop the guy says lets check your compression for the hell of it. his gauge said 60psi. wondering if thats true because now it starts fine runs good and idles good. the power seems fine. If it was really 60psi I would think it wouldnt do that

Yep I think they are looking for work and some extra change out of YOUR POCKET 60psi I would hardly run, but just to prove it to yourself you can take the plug out and stick your finger in the hold and hold it nice and snuge. THEN hold the throttle wide open and crank it. A. If it lifts your finger off the hole it has descent compression B. If you just feel some pressure then it has low compression. Alleyoop

Yeah I tried that it does blow your finger off. So i think my whole problem was a starter that was going bad and an intermitten coil. Tried the coil with out the cap didnt work and just the cap on my old coil didnt work either had to replace both. It turns over much better with the new starter too.
