Mornin Boys. It looks like I need a new chain for my "2009 ice bear trike cruiser 150". I found a tight spot in it yesterday. How many links do I have in mine? I checked E-bay, but the two that came up show different link numbers.

Hey hobs,,,how many miles on that thing?,,,i would think 6-8000 minimum is when you should be looking at a replacement,,,try some PB blaster penetrant oil first to see if you can loosen the tight ones up,,then give it a soaking with a good chain lube,,,if it is indeed shot mark and count,,,

Mornin cyborg, It only has 300+ miles on it but it's an 09. That means it has sat for a while. I will try some chain lube. I was hopping I didn't have to count the links. I can only count to 22 and that's only if I remember to use my nose.

150 Chain size =428 around 81 pins, But you will not find chains in that length you will find that you get a longer chain and you have to cut some off. I had to. Alleyoop

Well Boys, I didn't have any penetrating oil on hand, but I do have WD 40 and 3 in 1 oil. I also use those on my weapons. I used the 3 in 1 oil on the chain and it worked. My chain would have 3/4 inch play in most spots but would get very tight in one spot. I now have 3/4 inch in most spots and only 1/4 in that bad spot. So it did and is working. I'll wait till we go for another ride to see how it works out. When we ride it, I can feel a wobble in the trike. Not a bad one, but a wobble. I just found out what it is. I have a bent right rim. I can live with it for a while, but I will have to replace it. Clicky

Are you sure the Castle nut is not loose and the axle moved out a bit which would cause the wheel to wobble? If it was a bent rim you would have noticed it much sooner not just now. Since you got it up grab the tire and see if you can rock it. Alleyoop

Darn Alleyoop, I tightened and greased them when I first got it, but I just checked and I do have about 1/8 play in both sides. I better try and fix that,,,,,, again. The left side looks good, but it has the same amount of play as the right.

Give the axle a little whack on the end to push it in more on the locking sleave on the gear inside the differential. The way I fixed that was to add a LARGE washer in between the Bearing and the locking "C" clip to take up the little slack the axle can move out and make it loose. Alleyoop

I got it tight, no play. But it is a bent rim. Mine has 2 holes drilled in the axle to accept the cotter pin. I like that.

Yep they all have the hole to put the cotter pin and use a Castle nut so the nut does not come loose. But there is a little play(slack) between the Bearing and the "C" Clip right behind the dust cover. Alleyoop

It looks like you only have one hole to put the cotter pin in, mine has two drilled in it on both sides.
