Ok. So I got some time today. I removed the variator. Examined it all. Then I ran the scoot with the variator and belt off. The noise remains. Thanks.

Ok. I just videoed the flywheel. It appears to be spinning off center. I take it that's not normal. Thanks.

That my friend sounds like the Starter Clutch. Which is behind the plate by the FLYWHEEL and STATOR. Here is the Starter Clutch. Alleyoop

Ok thanks Alleyoop. Is there anything else I should replace since I'm in there? I heard possibly the oil pump? Is it still safe to ride? Are these common to fail? I appreciate all the help. Thanks.

What is making the metal to metal noise is the BIG Starter Gear is turning when it should not turn. And it is turning the IDLER Gear which your starter turns to start the motor and those two gears are making the noise.
What causes this is the Starter Clutch is NOT releasing and still making the big gear turn. The way it should work is when you use the Electric Start it turns the Idler Gear which in turn Turns the Starter Gear and the clutch when turned that way grabs the Starter Gear and turns the CRANK to start the motor. Then the Clutch should release and the Starter Gear should NOT TURN ANYMORE but stays stationary.
Sometimes the Starter Clutch will work and release and other times not. Alleyoop Alleyoop

What you may want to try and see if it will make the Clutch release is put in some synthetic oil. The Weak part of the Starter Clutch are the Springs that may be binding and some very slippery oil may unbind them. It's at least a shot in the dark if not you will need to replace the starter clutch. Alleyoop

Starter clutches have been the causes of many strange noises, the other causes of noises is the ehxaust/muffler assembly. If you press on the muffler while you hear the noise, then it changes or goes away. Then you know it the exhaust.

Ok. I replaced the starter clutch. The oil gear as well. The stator too (damaged the other one). Put her all back together. She started up right away. Problem is, the noise is still there. Any ideas? Thanks.

That sounds like it could be a rod knock, to me. I hate to say that. It's hard to tell from the vid. From the video, it's louder over there by the flywheel, which is on the crankshaft. A bearing probably went out, and the rod is hitting something.

The solution would be to replace the crankshaft.

Ok thanks. Would a compression test help diagnose this? Or can I see other things to point to crankshaft? Before I do a tear down. Thanks.

Is a big bore kit worth putting in now when I'm into this big of a tear down? Thanks.
