Tach. doesn't work.. My wiring diagram for my Znen 150T-18 doesn't show the tach. or wiring to it. I get continuity from CDI to Coil to Tach. on the Yellow/Black wire. Should I get a pulsing voltage on the Yellow Black wire and 12volts on the black wire ??. The lights do work on the Tach. Thanks..

Yes Yellow/Black feeds the COIL so if your getting spark and the motor runs and the tach splices into the Yellow/Black wire then the tach is shot or the wire from the tach to the splice is bad.

In addition to the inaccurate Analog, Ive install one of those inexpensive Digital LCD Tach/Hour meters.

Now that I know the correct wire color for sure, I jumper wired from the coil to the Tach. lead. The Tach is no good. Yes, CZ Thanks for the reply. I imagine I will end up getting a digital Tach. off ebay. The OEM Tach. isn't easy to find from the sources I've tried..

I've had the analog version of this tachometer on my scooter and it worked perfectly. It isn't adjustable with regards to # of cylinders or sparks per revolution, though. It is stuck at 1 spark per revolution; which is what gy6's have.

Alley,, with these digitals like I ordered it has one wire that you hook up to your sparkplug wire, couldn't it be hooked to the original wire from the coil ?.

The analog version I bought ( here) has, apart from the wires that go to the light bulb inside, 3 wires; green, black and yellow/black. Black went to positive, green to negative, and yellow/black was attached to the positive terminal of the primary side of the ignition coil (the wire that goes from the CDI to the coil). I'm not sure how much of that translates into the digital version. I am looking all around the web for an answer. Ebay is down for me right now, when it comes back up, I'll ask the seller if s/he knows. Oh, and if you are going to buy a similar tachometer form eBay, beware of items that say they ship from just "united states" and don't include a state; they are most likely china-based sellers. The one I linked to is one of those sellers. Sorry, I should have looked more closely before I posted that link.

Got it. Black = ground, red = positive, green = signal. I'm actually surprised they used the conventional wire color scheme.
