Alleyoop, is there another way to test the pickup coil on a DC system, if your multimeter will not pick up the voltage pulses coming off of the pickup coil? I have 2 multimeters, and neither one will read my pickup coil, but it damn sure works, because my scoot runs. I have an AC system, so I can measure the ignition coil on the stator. He doesn't have that luxury.

I guess if the CDI is not sending a pulse to the coil, then that's how you know your pickup coil is not working.

I would go ahead and replace the entire stator. You are going to need a flywheel puller. Here is a link:

You should get some reading on a multi meter you need to set it to very low AC setting like 2VAC and if the reading is anywhere from 1.? to .25 Vac then the Pick Up Coil is good. If you get reading lower than .20 then replace it.

You could see if it is pulsing at all by just holding the wire between your fingers and if you get some tingling then you at least know it is doing something but won't know if it is enough or not.

The safety switch on the kickstand was bad! I didn't even know that it had one, It runs great, it only has 280 miles on it so it is still breaking in, thanks Allyoop for walking me through ironing all the wrinkles out, I appreciate everything. Its storming out tonight so I wont get to ride it until tomorrow, I sill have only gone to the end of the driveway and back, It was looking like it could rain any second, Thanks Again!!!

That is great, when no spark occurs always check your KILLSWITCHS to make sure they are ON the run position. Many do not know that SOME scoots have a kill switch on the side stand and the motor will not start unless it is in the up position. If it gives you trouble I have pictures on how to bypass it and have a jumper wire on the plug going to the side stand so that the only killswitch you would have is on the right handle bar switch.

I bypassed the switch and the engine runs great,  I got it all buttoned up tonight, I got rid of the bolts and screws that came with it and replaced them with Stainless, also the vacuum hoses seemed kinda cheesy and i had some good quality hoses with the same ID. I took her up to top speed, about 52 mph, I think 55 will be all she has with the wind at my back, that is OK by me, I love the way the transmission works, just one smooth gear. I intend to keep her maintained and end up with a reliable ride and hobby. Thanks for all the help, I will be pestering you in the future I'm sure

I was reading an old post on the forum and they mentioned a safety switch on the kickstand, I ran out to the shed on a Sunday night and tried starting it with the stand up
When that didn't work I went to hunting, found the switch, cut the wires and she fired and idled like a kitten, I had a aftermarket fan and shroud come in the mail today!I guess my phone wont post a pic, I will from home
