I'm going to be selling a car for a family member soon and I want to know the best way to go about it. The car is in rough condition, mechanically, so I am going to sell it very cheap; probably $500 or less.
Should I go with craig's list, newspaper classifieds, autotrader, dealership, metal recycler, car-in-the-yard-sale-sign-in-the-window?

Craigs List. Label the title as a 'Mechanics Special'. Those usually go pretty fast.

Craigs List. Label the title as a 'Mechanics Special'. Those usually go pretty fast. Yeah, blow smoke at them. If it doesn't sell in a week, delete it and relist in about 3 days. That keeps it fresh and you will get more inquires on re-listing. Don't negotiate over the phone. They are much more likely to buy if they invest the time to come look at it. If they ask how little you would take tell them to make an offer.
