I installed a new ngk iridium plug and the guy at the parts store said you do not gap them , as they are factory set and you will break the top of you do? Also im not running a crush washer as I didn't see it in the box? I ride tonight and it seems to sound like its kind of knocking , I went and bought a regular plug tonite basically just to put a crush washer on the iridium plug , would this be my knock problem or do I need to re adjust the valves after installing the new head a few days ago ? On a side note I have put the belt cover back on Thanks

Pull the plug again take a flash lite and look down the hole and see the shiney spot on the piston top from iridium plug hitting it at higher revs,,,buy new iridium plug cause the gap is ruined on the old one from being hit by the piston,,,and install it,,readjust the valves just to be sure everything is kosher,,take it around the block to find out there's no contact now,,then after the ride hit yourself in the head with the wadded plug 10-12 times to atone and repent from this transgression,,,throw in 1500 hail Mary's and 500 our fathers and all will be good with the universe again

They do come factory gaped BUT you can gap them IF you know how to gap a plug correctly so as not to damage it. The plug should have come with a crush washer they all do. As for the knocking that is not the due to missing a crush washer. Since you worked on it you better check where the knocking is coming from bottom end or top end. If bottom end then your crank is shot if top end it all depends on what you installed. Alleyoop
