Greetings and thanks for the help.
Let me start off by saying I have owned and worked on several scooters, mostly mid 80's Hondas but some Chinese bikes as well along with chain saws, lawn mowers, etc. Two stroke and four stroke.
I have a 2012 Taotao 150 that for the most part runs great. It starts easy, idles normally and runs smoothly. Everything on the bike works except the fuel gauge. It always reads empty.
The only time the bike deviates from this is after I put fuel in the tank. The bike will start normally initially but will start to sputter and will eventually stop running unless I really give it the gas. When I let off the throttle it will die and be very hard to get going.
Eventually (days later) this behavior seems to go away by itself and the bike goes back to working just fine.
I've gone through the carb. It was spotless. I have run some Seafoam through a couple of times so I think I am good there. The fuel and vacuum hoses all seem good with no dry rot, etc. The inside of the gas tank has no rust or sediment. The fuel I am using is low ethanol super unleaded.
Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

How full do you fill the tank? And how is your tank ventilated and do you still have the emission devices installed? My thought is you are filling past the ventalation level causing vapor lock.

Ah the phantom overfilled fuel tank syndrome ,,,fill past the emission vent tap in the fill pipe and the damned thing either doesn't run good or not at all,,,did it a few times myself till the emission equipment mysteriously disappeared,,, gotta love those garage trolls

Ah, that could be it. I would doubt that anything has been removed. What am I looking for to verify that the emission control equipment is still there?

If you bought it new, and this is something new to you, I'm guessing you still have them. Search the forum about removing emission devices. When you do you will have two options for the fuel tank. 1. Run some hose from the fuel tank vent and cap with a fuel filter. 2. Cap the fuel tank vent barb and drill a small hole into the gas cap. I prefer the second method. Thanks for that. I have replaced these on Hondas before but it is considerably more difficult to get to on this bike. I am thinking it is not worth the trouble. However, if I need to get into the bike that deep for a different issue I will be taking care of the fuel sensor as well.
