Just make sure the wires on the CDI and COIL match up to what I put up. Your CDI is AC not DC so do NOT feed it power from the battery it gets it's power from the STATOR as well as the COIL gets it's power from the CDI. The CDI puts out A LOT OF VOLTAGE to the COIL then the COIL takes that voltage and converts it to a lot more like 20,000-40,000 volts to fire the plug.

Alleyoop, the b/y wire from my ign coil goes past the battery and goes up maybe to the ign switch. the scoot ran, where could my coil wire go, it didn't go to my CDI, how did I get volts to my plug? my new Cdi gets here Wed.

Well as it showed in your picture someone did a re-wire job on the Coil Feed Wire from the CDI. Took the Black/Yellow wire OFF the CDI and hooked it up to who knows what. Which I would think 12volts is probably always feeding the coil. So I would turn the key on and TEST that BLACK/YELLOW wire and see if it is getting 12volts. But that would mean the COIL is CONSTANTLY getting 12volts which is way less that what the CDI would feed it, a CDI USUALLY PUTS OUT anywhere from 200-600 volts to the COIL. So don't ask why or how just wire it right and you will have SPARK I am sure the COIL was being fed 12volts from the battery BUT don't forget for starting it takes a lot of amps from the battery to turn the starter so that also means LESS VOLTS going to the COIL to fire the PLUG. Also if your battery is weak or bad NO SPARK. Again running at high rpms with lights on and if your charging system is not up to PAR then the spark will be weak and the motor will not put out good power. So in summary I would think the scoot was not running to its potential being fed minimum volts to the COIL to fire the plug, also the plug gap would also come into play. A wide gap requires higher voltage for the spark to jump to the electrode.

The only wire you need to plug into the 4 plug that plugs onto the CDI is the COIL FEED wire the BLACK/YELLOW the other wire next to it should be coming from the PICK UP COIL which you tested already and it is good. All the other wires are fine on the plug. Alleyoop
